Seelig places fifth at state golf tour­ney

Ex­eter ju­nior Alex Seelig placed fifth in 3A last week at the PIAA Golf Cham­pi­onships at Her­itage Hills in York.

The BCIAA cham­pion shot 74-72-146 to tie for fifth. He fin­ished three shots be­hind win­ner Liam Hart of Holy Ghost Prep.

Tulpehocken’s Chase Miller was the cham­pion in Class 2A after shoot­ing an in­cred­i­ble 68 on Day 1 be­fore out­last­ing the field on Day 2 with a 79.

Cross Coun­try

The District 3 Cross Coun­try Cham­pi­onships were held on Oct. 28 at Big Spring High School.

Gov. Mif­flin ju­nior An­drea Miller placed fourth in the 3A girls’ race in 19:08 while lead­ing the Mus­tangs to a sixth-place team fin­ish. Miller was joined in the top 50 by se­nior Jessie Tay­lor (12th, 19:32) and se­nior Kayla Clark (33rd, 20:09).

Daniel Boone (11th) was led by sopho­mores Vi­vian Kase (47th, 20:37) and Car­lina Davis (77th, 21:14).

Ex­eter (14th) was led by sopho­mores Kather­ine Ker­ch­ner (45th, 20:32) and Is­abella Karstien (57th, 20:44). *** Twin Val­ley placed sec­ond in the boys 3A team race, the Raiders’ 152 points trail­ing only cham­pion Hemp­field (110).

Twin Val­ley got top 25 fin­ishes from se­nior Chase Knorr (14th, 16:36) and se­nior Gar­rett Knorr (21st, 16:42) and ju­nior Dy­lan Servis (25th, 16:45).

Daniel Boone, which placed 18th as a team, was led by sopho­more Alex Pin­gi­tore (18th, 16:37) and se­nior Zach Mur­ray (30th, 16:51).

Gov. Mif­flin, 21st as a team, had ju­nior Alexan­der Er­mold place 20th (16:42) fol­lowed by se­nior Elias Brower (69th, 17:29).

Me­chan­ics­burg se­nior Mor­gan Cupp won the race in 16:04. Wil­son’s Jake Un­der­wood placed sev­enth (16:24).
