Holiday Bazaar: From 8- 2 p.m. at St Paul’s UMC located at 1136 Geigertown Road Birdsboro. There will be crafts, baked goods, homemade soup and much more.

Color Run: Girl Scout Troop in our area. Troop #1797 is hosting a first ever Community 5K Color Run, at Amity Community Park, 1946 Weavertown Road in Douglassvi­lle, from 9 a.m.-noon. This troop is hoping to raise enough money to travel to Savannah, Georgia (The birthplace of Girl Scouts) this summer.

Vendor Bazaar: Hosted by the Friends of the Exeter Community Library from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4569 Prestwick Dr, Reading. Event includes food and raffles; Goodies bags to the 100 who attend. Diner Day: To be held from 10-1 p.m. at the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles in the 1938 Reading Diner. The museum will be serving homemade pies and fresh coffee at 1938 prices…. that means 5 cents for coffee and 25 cents for pie. Turkey Dinner: From 3-7 p.m. (or until sold out) there will be a turkey dinner at St. Paul’s UMC located at 1136 Geigertown Rd, Birdsboro. Cost of meal is $10 for adults; children 6 - 11 $5 and 5 and under are free. Meal includes: Roast turkey, potato filing, peas, corn, pepper cabbage, gravy, homemade desserts and hot and cold drinks. Reading Tutors: Volunteers needed for Ready.Set.READ! Program; Help make a difference in a child’s life! Volunteers are needed to tutor 2nd grade students who are struggling with reading at Lorane Elementary, Mt. Penn Elementary and Monocacy Elementary Schools. No previous teaching experience is required. This opportunit­y is for anyone interested in volunteeri­ng weekly for one hour during the 2017-2018 school year. Pagoda Writers: The Pagoda Writers group gets together from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Saturday of every month on the second floor of the Pagoda, 98 Duryea Drive, Reading.

Stitching Circle: The Mifflin Community Library’s Evening Stitching Circle meets every Monday from 6:30-8 p.m., and the Afternoon Stitching Circle meets every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. New members are always welcome and should bring their own materials. There are currently between 12-15 members who sew, knit and crochet. The group works on personal projects as well as service projects to benefit the community. Come join in loads of fun & stitching!

Writers group: Mifflin Writers Group continues to meet the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month from 6:30-8 p.m. Mifflin Writers Group is composed of writers of all genres and levels of experience. Their purpose is to motivate, inspire, instruct, inform, share and critique each other in their writing efforts in a free flowing and relaxed atmosphere. Most programs encourage pre-registrati­on and take place downstairs at the Mifflin Community Library unless otherwise noted.
