Gov. Mif­flin, Berks Catholic shore up sec­tion ti­tles

GOV. MIF­FLIN 51, CON­RAD WEISER 0 » The Mus­tangs fin­ished the reg­u­lar sea­son with their fifth-straight blowout to se­cure an un­beaten run to the Berks Foot­ball League Sec­tion 1 ti­tle.

It is Gov. Mif­flin’s se­cond divi­sion ti­tle in a row.

Isaac Ru­oss ran for three touch­downs and quar­ter­back Kam Wolfe went 7-for-7 for 200 yards and a TD while also run­ning for a pair of scores as GM built a 37-0 half­time lead.

Michael Franks caught three passes for 96 yards, Tyshaun Weaver had a re­ceiv­ing TD and Jaden Quilles ran for a TD.

Gov. Mif­flin is the No. 4 seed for the District 3-5A play­offs and will host No. 5 Wil­liam Penn on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. With a win, the Mus­tangs would meet the win­ner of No. 8 Ex­eter and No. 1 Har­ris­burg, the reign­ing district cham­pi­ons and team that ended their sea­son in 2016.

BERKS CATHOLIC 28, WY­OMISS­ING 0 » With Cooper Lutz and the Saints’ de­fense lead­ing the way, Berks Catholic clinched an un­beaten reg­u­lar sea­son and Sec­tion 2 ti­tle with a 28-0 vic­tory over pre­vi­ously un­beaten Wy­omiss­ing on Nov. 3.

Lutz scored all four touch­downs and rushed for 211 yards, find­ing the end zone once in each quar­ter.

The Saints (5-0, 10-0) com­pleted their first per­fect reg­u­lar sea­son in three years.

Berks Catholic en­ters the District 3 Class 4A tour­na­ment as the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Get­tys­burg on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.

The Spar­tans (4-1, 9-1) qual­i­fied to the District 3 Class 3A play­offs as the No. 2 seed. They will host No. 3 Lit­tlestown this week at a time to be de­ter­mined.
