Community Christmas celebratio­n set for Dec. 9

Ice sculptures, live nativity, carriage rides among event highlights

The community is invited to experience the magic of the Christmas spirit at the 9th Annual Christmas in Birdsboro celebratio­n on Saturday, Dec. 9. A visit from Santa, ice sculptures, and a tree lighting ceremony are among this year’s highlights.

The event begins with the Boone Area Library, 129 N. Mill Street, with Breakfast with Santa from 8-10 a.m. Come back after 4:30 p.m. for children’s holiday movies, snacks and crafts.

Next, the Birdsboro Community Center will hold their Christmas Craft Show from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., which features over 40 local artisans and crafters. Shop for unique gifts for your loved ones. The Birdsboro Community Center will also serve food and refreshmen­ts all day, plus a variety of children’s activities like face painting and cookie decorating, starting at 3pm.

Starting at 4:30 p.m., First Street Players, 301 E First Street, will be hosting holiday entertainm­ent and refreshmen­ts.

At Main Bird Park, Main Street & Water Street, there will be live holiday music and over 20 local organizati­ons that will provide warm food and items for sale. Children will also be able to view and experience the live nativity scene.

Carriage Rides will be available at Birdsboro Borough Hall parking lot after 5 p.m. to take families on a tour of the town to check out Christmas lights and ice sculptures.

Starting at 5 p.m., the center stage will feature local school groups singing their favorite Christmas Carols. Visit Santa in the gazebo for last minute gift requests and pictures at 5 p.m. in Main Bird Park.

What about the ice sculptures?

Get ready to watch blocks of ice transform into holiday

works of art, located all around town.

Don’t forget your camera to capture the moment of your family posing next to a reindeer or train or on a sleigh or chair.

An ice slide will also be on site again this year.

At the end of the night, there will be a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 8 p.m. followed by fireworks.
