Douglassville native shines in international competition
The sport of gymnastics is easily one of the most demanding that a young athlete can compete in.
It takes a commitment of time, a devotion to excellence and most importantly, an inspiration to constantly improve one’s abilities.
Natalie Wojcik earned herself yet another chance to put all of those qualities on one of the grandest stages.
And she did so with sheer brilliance.
Wojcik, a cyber-schooled 18-yearold hailing from Douglassville, PA, recently earned a trip to compete at the Ariana Orrego Gymnastics Cup last month in Lima, Peru with the USA Gymnastics Regional 7 AllStar Team.
By meet’s end, the Region 7 team picked up the overall first-place medal while Wojcik individually dangled four individual medals around her neck.
Wojcik took home gold medals in the Balance Beam and the Floor Exercise along with silver medals in the Vaulting and All-Around competition.
Of course, experience paid off as she is no stranger to international competition.
Wojcik, who recently signed her national letter of intent to continue her gymnastics career at the University of Michigan, is a Junior Olympic National Team member and a five-time national competitor where she’s medalled three times. To her credit, she’s competed and medalled twice at the Nastia Liukin Cup, a prestigious podium event before the American Cup. She’s also competed in London, England and Germany during her career.
When not competing nationally, Wojcik trains at Stallone Gymnastics in Fleetwood where she is coached by Marty Amrich and his wife, Gina Stallone Amrich.
