Popular Annual Music Night scheduled for Jan. 27

The popular Annual Music Night, organized by the Historical Society each year, is slated for Saturday, January 27, 2018, 7 p.m., at Neffsville Mennonite Church.

This event launches a whole year of dozens of programs, classes, concerts, and events as part of Lancaster Roots 2018. In the tradition of involving a variety of excellent Mennonite groups and individuals, this year’s Music Night features these highlights:

The Radiettes are Sydney Esch, Bethany Bronkema, Kate Kindelberger, and Mica Nieves, all seniors at Lancaster Mennonite School. They have a fresh, non-traditional approach to creating music.

Gregory Gehman is an organist and a local, lifelong resident of northern Lancaster County. He serves Muddy Creek Lutheran congregation in Denver, Pennsylvania, as director of music, where he plays the organ and directs the choir. He also teaches fourth grade at Gehman Mennonite School. He is a member of Pine Grove Church in Bowmansville, Pennsylvania.

Ministers of Music is comprised of six men who offer a variety of musical styles, including spirituals, hymns, gospel songs, and praise-and-worship choruses. The group sings many familiar traditional songs in modern arrangements. Selections feature a mellow blend of close harmonies accompanied by piano or sung a cappella.

Lancaster Mennonite School Alumni Men’s Ensemble, formed to help celebrate the school’s seventy-fifth year. This multigenerational group performs men’s ensemble standards.

Merle Good will lead lively congregational singing.

This event is a fundraiser for Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society to support the many services it offers through its public programs, library and archives, publications, online services, and ministries of energizing the past as an insight into the present and future.

This concert is part of over 40 Lancaster Roots 2018 events. Lancaster Roots combines the events of the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society and the 1719 Hans Herr House & Museum. Through public presentations, food, music, field trips, and classes, these events reveal Lancaster and its people: their stories, culture and history.
