The Brookeside Montessori School community works to create an environment that inspires children to develop inner discipline, self-assurance and a love of learning. Our programs respond to the needs of each child and balance academic and social skills in a supportive learning community.
The preschool program is composed of multi-aged groups of children from 2 years and 7 months through 4 years old. Materials are designed to be self-teaching and encourage independence. Small classes allow for individual attention to meet the needs of each child. Age-appropriate activities promote the early development of math and language skills.
The pre-kindergarten and full-day kindergarten curriculum includes a strong emphasis on reading and writing skills, mathematics, science and social studies. The Montessori philosophy uses a hands-on approach to build strong foundations for abstract concepts and highlevel thinking.
The children take pride in their accomplishments, learn to work successfully in small groups and enjoy being part of their learning community.
Our elementary classroom is an exciting environment, composed of an open, multi-year age span grouping that permits the child to be an active, rather than passive, learner. Our innovative approach to learning challenges each child academically and encourages personal growth. A strong emphasis is placed on academics with learning activities that stimulate and encourage creativity.
All children participate in art, music, Spanish, fitness and computer classes.
We offer before- and afterschool care, as well as a summer camp program. Brookeside Montessori is a Pennsylvania state-licensed private, nonprofit, academic school and is an associate member of the American Montessori Society.
