Dayne Martin continues to work hard both in the pool and out of it for the Albright women’s swim team.

The Governor Mifflin grad competes mainly in the freestyle sprints, the butterfly and relays teams for the Lions. The senior kicked off the second half of the season by winning the 100 butterfly in 1:04.23 and swimming a leg on the 200 medley relay which finished first in 2:01.34 in a 149-39 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over Hood on Jan. 6 in Frederick, Md. In the classroom, she earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the first semester. She’s a past winner of the Swimming Coach’s Award.

“Dayne is an outstanding senior captain,” coach Michael Hay said. “She has become one of the most consistent performers on the squad.”

The coach is looking forward to seeing what Martin can do in the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships set for Feb. 15-18 in York.

“Dayne has had the opportunity to score in multiple events and relays in previous MAC events,” Hay said. “We expect better results from her this year. She is the type of person who will consistently go the extra mile for her teammates and coaches and she has been an absolute pleasure to coach.”

The freshman is one of the top divers with the George Washington men’s swim team. The Colonials defeated rivals American 192-44 and Georgetown 164-78 in a tri meet on Jan. 13 in Washington, D.C.
