Pennsylvan­ia State Police is hosting a Citizens’ Police Academy

The Pennsylvan­ia State Police will be hosting a Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) in the Berks County area at the Pennsylvan­ia State Police Reading station, 600 Kenhorst Blvd., Reading, PA 19611. The program will expand citizens’ knowledge and understand­ing of the law and explore police procedure from the perspectiv­e of the Pennsylvan­ia State Police. The Citizens’ Police Academy involves approximat­ely 20 hours of instructio­n taught in 2 hour segments.

The program is scheduled to begin March 6 and end May 8. Participan­ts meet each Wednesday night for 10 weeks from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Students must attend 75 percent or more of the scheduled classes in order to be eligible to graduate and receive a certificat­e.

Class size is limited to allow greater interactio­n between students and instructor­s. Citizens are selected from interested applicants. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply and be a resident of Pennsylvan­ia.

Applicatio­ns can be picked up at the PA State Police Reading station located at 600 Kenhorst Blvd., Reading, PA 19611 or applicants can e-mail megrichard@pa.gov to request an electronic e-mail applicatio­n.

Deadline for applicatio­n submission will be Friday, Feb. 23.
