Exeter, Gov. Mifflin combine for six champions
Exeter and Gov. Mifflin compiled six of the nine Berks wrestlers to win titles at the District 3 Class 3A Section 1 tournament over the weekend.
Berks County had 34 wrestlers place in the top 4 to reach the District 3 Championships, which begin Thursday at Giant Center in Hershey.
Exeter seniors Michael Crane and Dennis Karas were champions for the Eagles. Gov. Mifflin had four champions: Jalon Lavine at 106, Dante Cavallucci at 170, Will Kitsch at 182 and Jordan Espinosa at 285.
Other champions were Muhlenberg’s Stefahn Mayo (152) Wilson’s Brandon Connor (138) and Reading’s Quinn Foley (160).
Karas won his third straight section title all via first-period fall, helping the Eagles to a runner-up team finish with 176, trailing only Cocalico (188.5).
Mifflin’s Lavine topped Daniel Boone freshman Canton Dolla 4-0 in the 106 final.
