Standout senior Emma Jones and newcomer goalkeeper Leah Franklin were named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in the MAC Commonwealth on March 5 after helping Lebanon Valley post a 2-0 record the previous week.

Jones (Governor Mifflin) has 20 goals in four games and had six goals in a 16-5 victory over Ramapo on March 3 and had four goals in a 13-6 triumph over Susquehanna on Feb. 28. She celebrated the league honor by scoring eight goals, but the Flying Dutchmen suffered a 15-13 loss to Connecticut College on March 6 in New London, Conn.

Franklin (Exeter), a Millersville transfer, recorded her first two victories of the season. She had 17 saves against Susquehanna and 12 saves against Ramapo.

For Jones, scoring is nothing new. In her four seasons, she has 153 goals, 39 assists and 192 points. The goals are third alltime, the points are fourth in Lebanon Valley history.

“Emma has been an outstanding four-year starter and two-year captain,” coach Jackie Dando said. “She is one of the hardest working and competitive players I have ever coached. I am certainly glad we don’t have to play against her. Her leadership and relentless play on the field has meant everything to our program.”

Franklin has given up 31 goals and has 38 saves for the 2-2 Flying Dutchmen.

The squad has a third area player in junior defender Jen Eck (Exeter).

“We believe that Emma, Leah and Jen will help our team in our pursuit of the league championship,” Dando said.

Peters averaged 4.8 points a game, but was 24 of 59 from 3-point range (40.7 percent).
