This Saturday evening, May 19, from 7 to 9 p.m., The Macungie Band will perform on stage at the Kutztown Park bandshell in the Borough of Kutztown 2018 Concert Series. This is the band’s first Kutztown performance.

The Macungie Band proudly carries on the great American tradition of the community concert band. Its history dates to 1855, and makes it one of the oldest civilian community concert bands in existence in the nation. The band celebrated their 160th anniversary in 2015 and is a popular and talented band, and favorite wherever they perform. Read more about the band at www.macungieband.com.

The Borough welcomes the band onto the nostalgic Kutztown Park Bandshell stage for their first performance with us.

The 40-piece full concert band is under the direction of Michael Moran, and will entertain the crowd with a variety of concert band music from a wide range of styles and eras. The band continues to entertain throughout the southeastern Pennsylvania area, including Berks, Lehigh, Montgomery, Bucks counties and beyond. The band will entertain the crowd with familiar marches and songs by John Philip Sousa, classics, overtures, and various show tunes from familiar musicals and Broadway shows through the years.

Come early, grab a seat in our covered bandshell, or set up your lawn chair outside the bandshell, and grab dinner in the Kutztown Park. The Borough Park Concession stand is under new management this year, so try “Mad Dogs in the Park”, as they will be open before the concert and during the intermission with a variety of menu items.

The concert is free to the public and is part of the Borough of Kutztown “2018 Concert Series in the Park”, and will be held rain or shine in the covered Kutztown Park Bandshell.
