Exeter’s Foster earns 2 state medals at PIAAs

The PIAA Track and Field Championsh­ips were held May 24-25 at Shippensbu­rg University.

Class 2A

GIRLS » Exeter’s Symone Foster brought home a pair of state medals to lead the Eagles’ successful trip to the state championsh­ips.

Exeter’s Foster placed sixth in the 100 hurdles with a 14.55. The Eagles’ 4x100 relay of Kamya Edmonds, Averie Foster, Symone Foster and Faith Kehinde placed sixth for a spot in the medal stand.

Berks Catholic junior Keeley Suzenski took silver in the shot put with a 44-5¾.

Fleetwood senior Sarah Crissman scored a podium finish by placing seventh in the 800 meters in 2:13.86.

Wilson’s Reagan Underwood took fifth in the 3,200 meters (10:43.44).

Twin Valley’s Jordan Walk medaled in the long jump by finishing eighth with a 17-3½. BOYS » Fleetwood sophomore Jeff Kline medaled in the shot put with a fourthplac­e 54-6¾. Berks Catholic’s Brandon George placed seventh (51-8)

Kline also placed 15th in the discus with a 139-9.

Boyertown sophomore Jamison Moccia placed fifth in the 100 meters with a 10.80.

Wilson’s Alex Cluff took fifth in the 100 hurdles in 38.87.

Gov. Mifflin’s Jason Spotts was 23rd in the high jump (6-0).

Class 2A

BOYS » The Schuylkill Valley boys won the team championsh­ip with 56 points, edging Dock Mennonite’s 53.

Schuylkill Valley’s Joe Jardine capped his career by smashing the state 2A pole vault with by clearing 16-3, four inches better than the 15-11 of Kane Area’s Patrick Anderson set in 2012.

Jardine overtook his teammate Brendan Sparr, the defending champion, and the field to win the long jump with a 23-0¼, besting the 22-8 of Dock Mennonite’s Austin Kratz and the 22-1 of Sparr.

Sparr also finished third in 100 meters in 11.02.

Logan Grauer took fifth in the 300 hurdles (39.17).

The Panthers’ relays were high finishers with the 4x100 relay placing second and the 4x400 and 4x800 botrh third.

Luke Williams was 15th in the 200 meters

GIRLS » Oley Valley’s Rebecca Snyder took sixth in the 3,200 meters with a 11:07.84 and also medaled in the 1,600 meters by placing seventh with a 5:10.42.
