Girls lacrosse

The Eagles earned a berth in the state tournament with a win over No. 5 Cumberland Valley in the District 3-3A thirdplace game.

Bella Karstien scored five goals and had one assist, Peyton Halsey and Kylee Hubiak each scored four times with an assist, and Makenna Cress made seven saves to lead Exeter faces Springfiel­d-Delco in the PIAA first round On May 29.

Softball

The second-seeded Blazers had the potential tying run cut down at home to end the sixth inning, and No. 15 Northeaste­rn escaped with an upset win in a District 3 Class 5A playoff game.

Elizabeth Nitka was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored while Caitlin McCrone (RBI) and Heather Hall each finished with a pair of hits. In the circle, Hall was tagged for five runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks. She struck out four.

The Eagles were blanked in their District 3-5A quarterfin­al on May 24.

Boys volleyball

The Mustangs were swept in the District 3-3A fifth-place match on May 25, 25-17, 25-17, 26-24. The loss ended the Mustangs’ season.

For Gov. Mifflin (16-7), Ryan Lawes had 24 assists and three digs; Brandon Allen had six kills and four digs; Casey Klahr had six kills and three digs.

After being swept by top seed Cumberland Valley, the Mustangs stayed alive in playbacks by rallying over the Trojans, 23-25, 25-23, 2523, 25-18. Leading Mifflin, Jonas Conner had 18 kills, seven digs and three blocks; Ryan Lawes had 46 assists, two aces and four digs; Casey Klahr had 11 kills and four digs; Kamron Wolfe had 11 digs.
