Berks Parks host Aqua Om SUP Paddle Flight and lecture that chronicles two hikes in Canadian Rockies

Berks County Parks and Recreation host events in September to get you out on the water or learn more about it.

Aqua Om SUP Paddle Flight

Get ready to take flight! Soar into a SUP (stand-up paddle board) experience by sampling four different Aqua Om services which include paddling instructio­n, Paddle Pump, Intro to SUP Yoga, and AO Float. Aqua Om SUP Paddle Flight will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 6 at Blue Marsh Lake, Church Road parking area.

Class will include basic SUP instructio­n, education on paddling techniques, paddle to a private location on the lake where you will be led through three different guided practices and paddle back to the launch location. Board, paddle and life vest provided by Aqua Om Paddle.

Rain date is Sept. 7. Space is limited to 8 spots. Appropriat­e for ages 18 and older. Great for parents now that the kids are back in school- time to pamper yourself! A Walk on the Wild Side at Lake Louise

Steve Runkle and his wife will present an illustrate­d lecture A Walk on the Wild Side at Lake Louise which will chronicle two hikes in the Canadian Rockies at Lake Louise and a canoe excursion on Moraine Lake. The areas’ spectacula­r alpine scenery, lush vegetation and abundant wildlife, and history will be shown.

The lecture will be held at the Berks County Heritage Center, 1102 Red Bridge Road, Reading (Bern Township) at 3 p.m. on Sept. 2.
