Designer Bag Bingo to support local boy rescheduled to Nov. 17

The sixth annual fundraiser Girls’ Night Out for “Bingo Bags & Wine 4 Ethan” has been rescheduled from Nov. 3 and will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the North End Fire Company, 301 Prospect St., Pottstown.

Registration starting at 6 p.m. Bingo from 7 to 10 p.m. Cost is $25 in advance, $30 at the door. The event was rescheduled due to the power outages caused by the severe storms which came through Pottstown late in the evening of Friday, Nov.2.

The fundraiser benefits 9-year-old Gilbertsville resident Ethan Schwartz and his family.

Prizes for Bingo game winners will consist of assorted designer bags by Coach, Kate Spade and Michael Kors. There will also be raffles and a 50/50 drawing at the end of the night.

Ethan is an amazing 9-year-old boy who was born with the same congenital heart defect as Jimmy Kimmel’s son, Billy. A few weeks after his second birthday, following his fourth surgery, Ethan suffered a cardiac arrest which led to a severe anoxic brain injury and has been wheelchair bound since then with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, in addition to his congenital heart condition. He requires vigilant and active medical care 24/7.

“It takes a village” to raise a child like Ethan, trying to provide as normal a life as possible for he and his family. As he grows, he requires new equipment to accommodate his needs; he regularly has therapies which are beneficial for his cognitive and physical abilities and is constantly having laboratory and bloodwork tests, doctor’s visits and hospital stays and other medical care which puts a burden on his family’s resources and relationships. There are many costs associated with his care which are totally out-of-pocket expenses.
