Man, 20, facing drug charges
EXETER >> A township man has been charged following an investigation into alleged drug trafficking activity involving postal office packages.
Emery Phillips has been charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal conspiracy.
Subsequently, Phillips was transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Department Central Processing Center for processing and arraignment by the onduty district judge. Information on bail was not available.
The total street value of the controlled substances is esti-
mated to be over $100,000, police said.
Police said in a release Wednesday that the Berks County Drug Task Force Detectives initiated a drug investigation involving United States Postal Office packages being shipped from Los Angeles to 1157 Fox Run, Exeter Township.
The investigation was based on the Reading Police Department Vice Unit receiving information from the United States Postal Inspector.
The U.S. Postal Inspector’s investigation learned that over the past year approximately 70 parcels of bulk amounts of suspected marijuana products were delivered to 1157 Fox Run, Exeter Township, PA 19606.
The investigation revealed that marijuana was being distributed from 1157 Fox Run, authorities said.
During the investigation, the United States Postal Inspectors intercepted several parcels bound to and addressed to 1157 Fox Run. These parcels contained large quantities of high grade marijuana and vape canisters containing THC oil, police said.
Subsequently, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence of 1157 Fox Run, Exeter Township. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, at approximately 5:10 p.m., the Berks County Drug Task Force Detectives served the search warrant. Police said Emery Phillips, 20, and Susan McMillan, 56, were found inside the residence.
As a result of the search warrant, police seized the following items:
• Approximately 570 grams of suspected marijuana
• Approximately 1.6 pounds of suspected marijuana wax
• Approximately 387 vape THC oil canisters
• Approximately 80 ready to smoke suspected marijuana blunts
• Approximately 36 suspected marijuana brownies
• Two gallon bags of suspected marijuana cookies
• Approximately 17 containers of suspected marijuana concentrate
• A .22 caliber rifle
• Previous parcels
• Packaging material
• Working cellular telephones & computers
• Approximately $4,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from sales
Police say the investigation is continuing and charges for a second suspect, identified as Susan McMillan, are pending as a result of the investigation.
