Charter Day events set at Daniel Boone Homestead

- From Anne Goda

Charter Day, which celebrates the signing of the Pennsylvania Charter by William Penn, will be celebrated at the Daniel Boone Homestead on Sunday, March 10, from noon to 4 p.m.

Admission is free for this event and will include first floor house tours of the Boone House, a work- ing blacksmith, and textile demonstrations in the Vis- itor Center throughout the afternoon.

In addition, Robin Moore, children’s author and story- teller from Doylestown will share stories about the fron- tier in the Wayside Lodge. These story sessions will occur at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and are part of our Fireside Tales series. A $2 per person donation is suggested for this program.

Plan to have a light lunch or snack at the Homestead by purchasing a turkey, ham or Italian hoagie. Sales of sandwiches will help support the upcoming Sheep and Fiber Day event on April 27. Also visit our Membership Table to learn how you can support this historic site and all the events and educational programs held throughout the year.

The Daniel Boone Homestead is a 579-acre property owned by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and administered by the Friends of the Daniel Boone Homestead, a 501 (c) 3 organization. Located off Route 422 at 400 Daniel Boone Road, in Exeter Township, the site is the birthplace of Daniel Boone, American pioneer, explorer and frontiersman.
