2019-20 ALL-EPSHL FIRST TEAM
Gavin Pugh, Exeter/Mifflin, Sr.: Forward led the league with 24goals and 33points in 14games. The championship game MVP scored the game-winner in a 3-1victory over Schuylkill Valley/Fleetwood/Conrad Weiser, Also a first team selection as a sophomore.
Michael Smerek, Wilson/Brandywine/Wyomissing, Sr.:
Cornerstone of a defense that allowed 2.9goals per game. Led league with 16assists and was fifth with 23points in 15 games. A second-team selection as a sophomore and junior.
David Cirba, Exeter/Mifflin, Sr.: Tenacious defender who anchored a defense that led the league in fewest goals allowed at 1.9per game. Also contributed two goals and seven assists in 15games. A second-team selection as a sophomore and junior.
Ty Loftus, Schuylkill Valley/Fleetwood/Conrad Weiser, Jr.: Forward/defenseman was a hybrid playmaker who was formidable on both ends of the ice. Sixth in the league with 11 goals and eighth in points with 18 in 16 games for EPSHL runners-up. Second-team selection last season.
Joey Cawley, Daniel Boone/Muhlenberg, Jr.: Imposing physical presence and highest-scoring pure defenseman with 13goals, 11assists and 24points in 15games. Tied for fourth in goals, second in assists and third in points in league.
Lucas Sockel, Exeter/Mifflin, So.: Forward was a dynamic playmaker who was second-leading scorer for EPSHL champs. Tied for fourth in the league with 13goals, second with 11assists and third with 24points in 13games.
Nolan O’Toole, Daniel Boone/Muhlenberg, Fr.: Speedy forward/defenseman with great ice vision. Finished second in the league with 15goals, tied for fifth in assists with 10, and second in points with 25 in 14 games.
Gavin Emery, Wilson/Brandywine/Wyomissing: Goalie stopped 367-of-402shots in 14games and had the league’s second-leading save percentage at .913. Also recorded a league-high four shutouts.
Coach Kevin Simmerman, Wilson/Brandywine/ Wyomissing: Led his team to second place in the regular season with a 7-4-1 record. Team finished with an overall record of 8-6-1, including a 3-2double overtime playoff loss to eventual champ Exeter/Mifflin.
