CHURCH, ROUTE 73 AND NEIFFER ROAD, OBELISK May 22:

Pastor Barbara Pence will conduct 8 a.m. Holy Communion service in the church and Irene Sassaman will conduct the 10:15a.m. service in the church. All are welcome. Masks are optional for those who are vaccinated. We require all church service attendees to wear a mask and practice social distancing of at least 6 feet if not vaccinated. Please do not attend services if you feel sick. Weekly services are also offered online via the St. Luke’s Obelisk YouTube Channel.

ST. LUKE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 35 WILSON AVE., GILBERTSVI­LLE

May 22: We look forward to a message from one of our St. Luke members, Kathy Billger, who will also lead the worship service as we celebrate the sixth Sunday of Easter. Connie Hukari is lector. The gospel lesson for the day is John 14:23-29, “the Father will send the Holy Spirit. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”

Following worship: all are invited to go across the street to our former building. Self-guided tours will be available. This will be followed by snacks in the current building. This is being done in accordance with our 100th Anniversar­y Celebratio­n.

We continue to take precaution­s: all services will be livestream­ed, listen on 91.3FM or watch as we livestream at stlukegilb­ertsville.org.

Community Clothing Rack: open May 25for shoppers and June 1for donations, from 1to 4 p.m. Masks and physical distancing are required. Enter through far door — sanitize hands. Four clients will enter with a 20 minute shopping time limit.

May 22: Rev. Matthew Finney will lead worship and present the sermon at the 9 a.m. worship service on this Sixth Sunday of Easter. At the 9a.m. service worship helpers will be open — acolyte; Denise Hoffman — lector; open — Assisting Minister and our Greeter/Usher is Ginnie Wilkinson. Altar Guild this morning will be Kay and Jim Barr and Counting Team is “D”. Prior to the worship service, Coffee & Conversati­on will be held at 8:30 in the Welcome Center and then again after worship at 10:15a.m. Adult Sunday School will be held in the parlor following the worship service at 10:15a.m. The Confirmati­on class will meet in room E for class at 10:15 a.m.

May 24: Church Council will meet at 7 p.m. in the Welcome Center.

May 27: Pastor Matt’s office hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Summer Worship: Starting June 5, we will return to 9 a.m. Worship Service. There will be no Contempora­ry Worship Service or Sunday School during June, July and August.

June 5: Graduate Recognitio­n Sunday will be celebrated. Call the church office and let us know of any members, friends, or loved ones who are graduating from high school, college, graduate school, basic training or any other academic or career training program.

God’s Wonder Lab Vacation Bible School: will be held July 25 to 29.

Social Ministry of Trinity Sundaes for Childhood Cancer: $5 per Sundae (not edible) to wear with a surprise inside available every Sunday in May or until sold out. Also yellow cancer ribbons to pin on your clothing for $2. Monetary donations greatly appreciate­d also.

Thrivent T-Shirts: assortment of Thrivent T-Shirts in all different sizes and designs are on the table in the Parish Hall.

Scout Troop 511 Hoagies: sales will be the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Place orders on the 2nd Tuesday. $5.50 each for ham, turkey, Italian or cheese with lettuce, onion, tomato, sides hot peppers or sweet peppers, Italian or mayo packets. To volunteer and to order as a new person, see Kitty Isett. Pick up will be at the old store. No hoagie sales during June, July and August.

WAWA Hoagie Coupons: Available 1st Sunday of the month at the Scrip Table and in the church office Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $4. This project benefits the Social Ministry.

PJ Project: donate gently used or new pajamas or sweatpants for children and adults all sizes male and female. Place in box in the Narthex.

In Ian’s Boots: donate used sporting equipment for needy children and youth developmen­t programs both here and around the world.
