Five Berks players named All-Americans

Twin Valley's Anna Kaplan and Emma Raines, Gov. Mifflin's Mia Beilhart, Exeter's Ty Yonas and Wilson's Brayden Skipper are honored by USA Lacrosse

Five players from Berks have been named high school lacrosse All-Americans by USA Lacrosse.

In girls, Twin Valley’s Anna Kaplan and Emma Raines, and Gov. Mifflin’s Mia Beilhart were honored. In boys, Exeter’s Ty Yonas and Wilson’s Brayden Skipper received recognitio­n.

Three Berks players were named USA Lacrosse AllAcademi­c honorees: Kaplan and Twin Valley’s Julia Givens in girls, and Wilson’s Wes Prentiss in boys.

Kaplan also was named the Jackie Pitts Award winner for the Pennsylvan­ia Central area, and Twin Valley girls coach Courtney Kaplan, Anna’s mother, was named the Pennsylvan­ia Central girls Coach of the Year.

The Jackie Pitts Award “recognizes one player from each area who goes ‘above and beyond’ in service to her team, school, and community.”

Anna Kaplan, a midfielder, was a repeat selection as Berks Player of the Year as a senior after leading the league with 145 points on 69 goals and 76 assists. She helped lead the Raiders to BCIAA and District 3 Class 2A titles and to a berth in the PIAA Class 2A final. She will continue her career at Loyola of Maryland.

Raines, an attack and repeat All-Berks pick as a senior, led the BCIAA with 112 goals and also had 13 assists. She finished her career with a BCIAA-record 291 goals. She will play at Saint Joseph’s.

Beilhart, an attack and a repeat All-Berks selection as a senior, led the Mustangs with 132 points on 63 goals and 69 assists. She will play at West Chester.

Yonas, an attack, was named Berks Player of the Year for the second straight season (he shared the honor in 2021) after leading the BCIAA in goals (87) and points (115) as a junior for the Berks runner-up Eagles. The Virginia Military Institute recruit also had 28 assists.

Skipper, a goalie and a repeat All-Berks, helped anchor the league’s No. 1 defense and helped the Bulldogs win their 10th straight BCIAA title as a senior. He will continue to play at Cabrini.

Courtney Kaplan led the Raiders to a 25-2 record, their second straight BCIAA title, first District 3 Class 2A championsh­ip and to the PIAA Class 2A final.
