Building a Better Boyertown invites couples to step back in time for a romantic Valentine’s stroll through Boyertown on Feb. 11.

Held in downtown Boyertown from 1 to 5 p.m., the 2nd annual Beary Loved: A Valentine’s Stroll Through Boyertown offers a romantic and fun date. Grab brunch before or enjoy dinner after at local eateries. During the event, a variety of musical performers will be stationed throughout the streets. For those age 21 and older, the Love Potion No. 9 Bar returns to the rail yard to offer Valentine’s Daythemed drinks.

“We hope this event gives the community something special and unique to do locally for Valentine’s Day,” said Ellen Martignetti, Main Street Manager, Building a Better Boyertown, a nonprofit organization that seeks to preserve Boyertown’s artistic, historical, and agricultural heritage.

“BaBB provides free, live street-side entertainment along the Avenues along with fun pop-up experiences. Couples, friends and families can take a stroll through Boyertown and show their loved ones everything a card can’t say.”

The event also offers the opportunity to visit local Boyertown shops, businesses and restaurants.

“Our restaurants and retailers will highlight special Valentine-themed promotions and we encourage people to stop in and visit,” said Martignetti. “The timing of the event is scheduled (1 to 5 p.m.) so people can either go out for brunch or lunch and then enjoy the event or stroll around town first, followed by dinner.”

Also, attendees can participate in the Beary-Loved Basket Raffle featuring baskets from Boyertown businesses.

While Beary Loved is free to attend, some activities may incur a fee. The event will also be held rain or shine.

“This event will take place despite any weather events. Live entertainment will move indoors to our retail and restaurants if there is inclement weather,” said Martignetti.

Vanity Tintype returns to Boyertown for a two-day Valentine Pop-Up in the French Room at the General Carl Spaatz National USAAF Museum on Feb. 10 and 11. Tintypes first appeared in America in the 1850s and gained popularity in the 1860s and 70s. It became less widespread in the early 20th century but has been revived as a novelty and fine art form in recent years.
