Looking to get in on all the fun of creating special products in honor of the Philadelphia Eagles’ trip to the Super Bowl this weekend, the Reading Coffee Co. has rolled out two new coffee blends.

Birds’ Brew and Java Jawn are part of Reading Coffee Co.’s limited-release series and are available through March 1 online at https://www.readingcoffee.com/collections/limited-release, and in the company’s retail store, 316 W. Main St., Birdsboro.

“We decided to create the blends as a response to all the excitement in the local community, with our customers and most especially with our staff here at the roastery — many of whom are huge Eagles fans,” Frank Orman, company president, said Wednesday in an emailed response to questions.

The first blend — Birds’ Brew — has been offered since before the Eagles clinched the NFC National Championship on Jan. 29 against the San Francisco 49ers. Birds’ Brew is a single-origin medium roast, a balanced and smooth coffee with notes of fruit, chocolate and caramel, a medium body, bright acidity, and a clean aftertaste, according to a description provided by the company.

To celebrate the team heading to the Super Bowl, Java Jawn was most recently introduced as a flavored-coffee option. Java

Jawn is also a medium roast infused with the flavors of milk chocolate and cream, with the depth and the smoky-sweet flavor of caramel, according to the description.

Both coffees are also available as a decaffeinated option.

All coffee starts the roasting process as green, as a simple, raw bean from its country of origin before each blend is roasted by Reading Coffee to its celebratory perfection, according to a press release.

Orman said both blends have sold out once already, but the company has more ready to go.

While this is the first celebratory blend in honor of the Eagles, Orman said Reading Coffee did a very successful blend for the Phillies when they went to the World Series. That limited-release blend was called Red October Roast.

Reading Coffee Co. was founded in 1989 in downtown Reading, and has since relocated its operations to Birdsboro. Reading Coffee is under its second generation of ownership.
