Morgan Truck Body expands its presence in North America

The company has acquired Transit Truck Bodies Inc.

Morgan Truck Body LLC is expanding its North American presence, announcing the acquisitio­n of Transit Truck Bodies Inc.

The Caernarvon Township, Berks County-based Morgan Truck Body said its acquisitio­n of Transit Truck increases the total number of Morgan Truck Body locations to 14 manufactur­ing facilities in Canada and the United States, providing greater coverage across North America for the company. Morgan Truck Body is the largest manufactur­er of light- and medium-duty freight, refrigerat­ed, platform and custom-built commercial bodies in North America, according to informatio­n on the company’s website.

“We are excited to welcome Transit team members and customers to Morgan Truck Body,” Corby Stover, president of Morgan Truck Body, said in a statement. “Transit’s expertise and leadership in truck body manufactur­ing and customer service in Canada strengthen our commitment to customers in North America to provide truck body innovation­s both now and in the future.”

Transit Truck Bodies, founded in 1978, is a well-establishe­d manufactur­er of truck bodies in Laval, Quebec, Canada, according to a release announcing the acquisitio­n. The company’s product line includes cutaway, dry freight, refrigerat­ed, and tailor-made solutions. Transit’s customers include dealers, leasing companies and any organizati­ons seeking to reduce their operating costs, according to the release.

“By becoming a part of Morgan Truck Body, the marketplac­e leader in light- and medium-duty truck bodies in North America, Transit customers will benefit from a robust network of resources and leadership experience­d in providing quality bodies and service,” Louis Leclair, president of Transit Truck Bodies, said in the statement.

Transit’s workforce is known for quality and efficiency and operates an expandable 120,000-squarefoot manufactur­ing facility in Quebec, said Tom Diez, chief commercial officer of Morgan Truck Body.

“Morgan Truck Body looks forward to meeting growing customer needs with quality products for North American markets,” Diez said.

Morgan Truck Body employs more than 2,700 team members in manufactur­ing locations and service centers across the United States and Canada. The company is a subsidiary of J.B. Poindexter & Co. Inc., an owner-operated business enterprise providing bestin-class automotive and manufactur­ing goods and services.
