Julia Huprich named director of continuing education at Georgia Public Library

Julia Huprich has joined Georgia Public Library Service ( GPLS) as director of continuing education.

She will provide training and consulting services to public libraries across the state and will create and coordinate the agency’s online training programs, including the Georgia Library Education Access Network (GLEAN).

“By working closely with her GPLS colleagues and other subject matter experts, Julia will increase and enhance the continuing education opportunities for Georgia’s public library employees,” said Wendy Cornelisen, assistant state librarian. “Julia’s passionate enthusiasm shines through in all of her work, and we’re excited for her to bring her extensive experience in the development of innovative programming and training to the entire state.”

Huprich earned a master’s degree in library and information science from Valdosta State University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in French from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville and is working toward a second master’s degree, in information technology from Kennesaw State University, with an expected completion date of May 2016.

Originally from Augusta, Huprich has a decade of library experience, most recently as head of digital library services and communications for the 17-branch Cobb County Public Library ( CCPL) System, for which she has worked since 2008.

During her tenure with CCPL, Huprich developed, produced and co-anchored “The Library Show,” the monthly news-and-general interest television series that is delivered to approximately 175,000 households through the county’s government-access cable channel, TV23. She is also a contributing member of Women in Technology, the Atlanta-based organization that develops and promotes women for success in technology throughout Georgia.
