Polk students graduate from Rheinhardt

Reinhardt University recently held its 2016 Commenceme­nt Ceremony at the James and Sis Brown Athletic Center, where degrees were conferred for 273 students.

“College graduation is one of the most significan­t milestones in one’s life,” Reinhardt University Dr. Kina S. Mallard said.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Brian Hightower, Cherokee County Superinten­dent of Schools, 1983 Reinhardt alumnus and the 2015-16 Distinguis­hed Alumnus of the Year.

“Being asked to deliver the commenceme­nt address at your alma mater is such an honor and so humbling,” Dr. Hightower said.

Hightower said he hopes his story helped inspire those who are taking their next steps in life as they earn their degrees.

Graduates from Polk County are:

Blake Randall Wright, of Aragon, Bachelor of Arts in organizati­onal management; summa cum laude

Matthew Gordon Freeman, of Rockmart, Bachelor of Science in mathematic­s, summa cum laude

Additional­ly, Polk students achieved the Dean’s List at Reinhardt University for the Spring 2016 semester. To earn dean’s list recognitio­n, a student must maintain a 3.5 grade-point average based on 12 semester credit hours with no grade less than a B. This group includes: Joshua Baldwin, Cedartown
