Yearbook staff at RMS named to 2016 ‘excellence’ program

-

Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks and student- created content, announced that Rockmart Middle School’s yearbook program has been named a 2016 Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence.

The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies ( ICT) literacy.

Students Trudi Baines Floyd, Alexis Free, Emma Hanson, Aubrey Gilmer, Landra Jones, Lindsey Jones, Bailey Kennedy, Tyler Paschal, Aleiah Peterson, Aimee Portwood, Lauren Sanders, Dalton Sprayberry, and Gillian Vansciver under the direction of Heather Free, RMS yearbook, achieved the Rockmart Middle School award winning yearbook program

“The most important aspect of the award is creating an inclusive yearbook. My staff set a goal to make sure that the book was meaningful to all of the students. One of the criteria for the award was to focus on covering at least 50 percent of the student body, three times in the book.

“The students not only met this requirement, but they exceeded in this category. I am truly proud of their hard work and effort,” said Free.

Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence Awards are presented twice a year, in spring and in fall for yearbook delivered during the school year.

The Award was presented to the RMS yearbook program by their Jostens’ representative Matt Felis for achieving the defined criteria in each of three following categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement, and successfully managing the yearbook creation process.

The yearbook program will receive a plaque and a banner to display in school so the entire school community will be aware of the outstanding achievement.
