Deadlines announced for summer camps

Thursday, June 16, is the deadline for registering teen art campers (ages 12 – 17).

The youth art camp deadline is also quickly approaching. Stop by the Art Gallery Friday or Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to enroll your child.

Campers should bring a sack lunch each day. Participants are required to bring their smartphone or tablet.

Projects include video clay animation with sound overlay, pottery, music, art rockets, restoring Morgan Hardware mural, and alcohol painting.

A field trip will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday. The trip will be to Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden in Summerville, Ga. Parents/guardians are invited to attend. Tuition is $90.

Deadline to register for summer art camp for ages 7 to 12 is July 1. This camp will be held July 11-15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Campers are to bring a sack lunch each day.

Projects include pottery, art rockets, music, painting, and more. A field trip will also be made to Finster’s Garden on Wednesday. Tuition is $90.

Youth Art Exhibit RCAC Art Gallery annually showcases ALL visual artists under age 18.

There is no approval process. Any art with any media created by a young artist is accepted. The exhibit is not restricted to art classes from school.

Bring art created by the artist to the RCAC Art Gallery located in the City of Rockmart Government Complex, Cultural Arts Center, 316 N. Piedmont Ave., Bldg. 300, Rockmart.

Delivery dates are from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10. The exhibit will be on display from July 15 to August 13.

Art Classes If you are interested in learning how to use your digital camera, register for Carla Redding’s next “Photo Convo One” class scheduled for 4 Thursdays.

The class begins from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. Tuition is $75. Pre- registration is required. Email rcac@ rockmart-ga.gov or call 770-684-2707.

Drawing classes are also available to individuals interested in learning the art.

These will be taught from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Fridays. If this does not fit your schedule, then call for other available times. Classes are offered in 6 sessions for $85. Bring your own supplies or purchase sup- plies the first session for a one-time fee of $10.

You can also learn the art of oil painting in classes offered from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays. Classes are offered in 6 two-hour sessions for $85.

Open Studio Pottery classes are available at Rockmart Cultural Arts Center with Paul Craighead. Contact him by email at rivoletti@ netzero.net or call 770843-5302. Classes are held year-round with the exception of holidays and summer art camps.

Classes are available from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays for $15 per session. From 10 to 11:30 a.m. classes are available for $12 per session. The price includes all materials, glazes, firing, and instruction.

Due to camps and vacations in June and July, the pottery studio schedule is as follows: Tuesday, June 14 – closed, Wednesday, June 15 – closed, Thursday June 16 – open, June 21 - 23 – closed, July 12 - 14 – closed, July 19 – 21 – open, July 26 – 28 – open.
