Polk churches host free day of fun in Rockmart

-

Volunteers recently gathered early for a free community event – Warmth of the Son – at Seaborn Jones Park in downtown Rockmart.

The early morning scene was a busy one as everyone worked to get things in place before the crowd gathered to enjoy the day’s activities: live music, gospel messages, dramas, clowns, games and more. Free clothing, groceries and hotdog lunch was also provided.

Churches partici- pating in the event were Cross Pointe Community Church, Victory Baptist Church, Abundant Life Church and Rockmart First United Methodist Church.

Live entertainment included: Cross Pointe Community Church Praise Team at 11 a.m. followed by a message from Pastor Gary Diggs at 11: 30 a. m., Mercy Road Trio at noon,

Victory Baptist Church Children’s Drama Team at 12:30 p. m., a message by Sammy Barrett from Victory at 12: 45 p. m., Trudy and Noble Crown Ministry at 1: 15 p. m. and an address from Pastor Steve Woolfork, Abundant Life at 1:45 p. m. followed by the Abundant Life Praise Team.

Those present described this partnership of local churches as “amazing” since each may worship differently, but are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of people throughout the community.

“It’s not about ability but availability,” said Arlene Sizemore, Cross Point Church.
