Miura presents College and Career Academy funds for welding
Miura America, an outstanding partner in education, continues to increase support to local students pursuing college and career opportunities in Polk County.
Mark Utzinger, President and Cody Nichols, Outreach Coordinator, presented a $10,000 check to Polk County College and Career Academy’s CEO, Dr. Katie Thomas, and Welding Instructor, Matt Hayden.
The funds will sponsor a speciality welding booth in the new Welding shop at the College and Career Academy Cedartown location, expected to open in the Spring of 2017.
“Partnerships, such as the one we have with Miura, are key to the college and career academy concept. In order to be successful, we have to work closely with our local business and industry. It only makes sense that our local employers have a say in what critical skills we should be teaching our students so that ultimately they are not only educated when they graduate, but also employable,” Thomas said.
Miura America Co., LTD is one of Polk County’s largest employers and was named 2014 Industry of the Year in Polk County.
