Mr. McKelvey
Mr. James Lee “Jimmy” McKelvey, 74, of Taylorsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Floyd Medical Center.
He was born in Taylorsville on Dec. 24, 1941 to the late Lee and Lois McKelvey.
Mr. McKelvey was a graduate with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Georgia and a longtime Georgia Bulldog fan.
He was a member and active deacon at Taylorsville Baptist Church and a member of the Polk Co. Cattleman’s Association and the Cedar Valley Farmer’s Club. He enjoyed farming, gardening and sharing his vegetables and produce with everyone.
Mr. McKelvey is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Beth McKelvey; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lee McKelvey (Kelli); daughter and son-inlaw, Elizabeth M. Martin, M.D. (Colin); grandchildren, Mary Catharine Martin, Elizabeth G. Martin, Andrew Lee McKelvey and Kelsey Lorenzoni; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice M. Morgan (Ronald) and Donna M. Harris (Larry); brother and sister-inlaw, C. Steven McKelvey (Cindy); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Taylorsville Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Harris officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
