Mr. James Tony Simpson, age 71, of Buchanan passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016.

Mr. Simpson was born in Cedartown on Feb. 24, 1945, the son of the late Raymond Thomas Simpson and the late Matti Vinson Simpson.

Mr. Simpson worked for many years at Star Manufactur­ing in Cedartown and later worked for a number of years and retired from NCI in Tallapoosa.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Handlon Simpson of Buchanan; two daughters, Shari Whaley of Rome and Jami Simpson of Buchanan; the sons, Mike Coleman of Joliet, Ill. and Tony Simpson of New York; one sister Terry and her husband, John Minnick of Joliet, Ill.; eight grandchild­ren, Amber Hernandez, Amanda Whaley, Tyler Whaley, Ashli Faine, Corey Coleman, Quinton Faine, Makaela Faine and Kyle Coleman; and a number of beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorial services were conducted Friday, July 8, 2016 at 3 p.m. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Robinson officiatin­g.

The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the memorial service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for contributi­ons to be made toward Mr. Simpson’s funeral expenses.
