Haley Smith presents program to local group

-

Haley Morgan Smith, recording artist from Rockmart, presented the program during the June meeting of the Golden Agers at First Baptist Church.

Golden Age members can recall when Haley attended the Church as a child. “She was singing and playing guitar at age 7. Today, she is a well- known singer and has become a great leader to Rockmart high and middle school students. She also makes the hearts of senior adults swell with joy.”

Those attending the meeting emphasized that they enjoyed this talented local woman’s singing. They encouraged other seniors to attend the July meet- ing, scheduled on the 4th Thursday. “It is a great way to meet and share memories with old and new friends while enjoying fellowship and a good meal.”

David and Mary Walk, Joan Gibbs, Barbara and Charles Pinkard were welcomed back. Everyone extended a welcome to Bob Waters and Bernice Payne, visitors.

Those attending were encouraged to pray for individuals serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, missionaries, homebound, assisted living residents and others.

People on the prayer list also include Richard Johnson, Jackie Adair, Kathy Fairel, Bobbie Barnes, Evelyn Brewer, Guy Atkins, Jean Clay, Mary Walk, Bertie Barfield, Shirley King, Chuck and Phyllis Tate.

Sympathy was extended to the family of Maggie Harris and Lillian Sherman, who passed away recently. Both are remembered as being active members of the Golden Age and will be missed.

Martha White, and Bill and Jean Weaver were recognized for their contribution to the meeting. They decorated the tables.

Celebrating birthdays were Faye Borders, Rick Brown, Jean Clay, Joyce Hurt, Don Lee and Faye Womack.

Jerry and Jackie and Darlene and Ronald Hicks celebrated anniversaries. Congratulations were extended to each of these individuals.
