AHS sponsors car, truck show to raise funds for museum
The third annual Aragon Historical Society (AHS) Car and Truck Show will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at the Tom Pittman Recreation Complex, located on New Prospect Road in Aragon.
Registration for vehicles entered in the show will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. A fee of $20.00 will be charged for each vehicle entered.
Plaques will be presented for the top 10 vehicles in the show, as well as plaques for Best of Show (voted on by the vehicle owners), People’s Choice (voted by attendees), and The President’s Trophy.
Arnold Wheeler, AHS secretary, said this is the third year the group has hosted this event.
“We urge all residents of Aragon and surrounding Polk County community to come out for a fun day,” he said. “We anticipate a good turnout and hope for great weather.”
The Aragon Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization composed of folks who love the rich history of the community. The group relies on the generosity of history buffs and others to keep the museum open. The facility is located on New Prospect Road in Aragon.
Larry Pittman, AHS president, said the group appreciates the continued support of Aragon officials and residents. “History is important not only to the present but future generations,” he said.
Proceeds from the Car and Truck Show will go to historical society’s building fund for maintenance, repair and upkeep of the museum.
