‘Southern Momma’ Darren Knight to perform in Rome on Oct. 8

After selling out two shows in Rome, Darren Knight, also known as “Southern Momma” has added a third local comedy show to his Rome tour.

Knight’s YouTube videos as sassy, tell-it-like-it-is “Southern Momma” have made him a social media sensation. His hilarious videos include “Southern Mom Gettin’ Her Kids Ready for School,” “Southern Mommas at the Ballfields,” “Southern Mom Meets Her Ex’s New Girlfriend” and “Southern Mom Takin’ ‘em Kids to JC Penney” and many more.

The videos feature Knight in the “Southern Momma” persona yelling at her kids and spouting off Southern colloquialisms we’ve all heard... and some we haven’t. Whether she’s screaming at umpires at the ballpark or reprimanding her wild children at the grocery store, Southern Momma reminds many of us of our own moms, whether we want to admit it or not.

“I knew he was popular, but man! He sold 400 tickets in four hours with zero advertising,” said promoter Shawn Holcomb. “All I did was post it on facebook and they were gone in no time. I immediately booked a second show, but this time at The City Auditorium”.

Those tickets went on sale and four hours later, again with no advertising, sold 1,085 seats and sold out the City Auditorium. Holcomb said that second show was going to be the last, but fans kept demanding an additional show so Knight will return to the the Rome City Auditorium on Saturday, Oct. 8

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.
