Mr. Bowling

Mr. Lawrence Bowling, age 86, of Avondale Estates, passed away Aug. 9, 2016.

He was born June 29, 1930 to the late Grier and Dollie Longino Bowling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Christine Garner Bowling; sisters, Vivian Sanford, Glorise McSwain and Rachel Fincher; and brothers, Archie “Chick” Bowling, Wilson Bowling and Carroll Bowling.

He served 6 years in the U.S. Army, spending most of that time stationed in Germany and traveling throughout Europe.

During his military service, he learned to be a still photograph­er and motion picture photograph­er.

After returning from the Army, he started working in the film business while he earned a Bachelor and a Masters Degree in Law.

He never left the film business, however, working for several different companies over 45 years, including Protestant Radio and Television, Shelton Production­s, and Production Services Atlanta. Even after his retirement he continued to enjoy photograph­y as a hobby.

He was a man of character, who loved his family and consistent­ly put them ahead of himself.

Mr. Bowling is survived by his son and daughter in law, Tim and Karla Bowling of Kennesaw; grandchild­ren, Megan Bowling, Sarah Bowling and Matthew Bowling; great-grandson, Noah Kelly; sisters-in-law, Patsy Mobley and Ruth Fambrough; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Aug. 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with eulogies by son, Tim Bowling, grandson, Matthew Bowling, and nephews, Terry McSwain and Steve Norrell and Bro. Jeff Layton officiatin­g.

Music was provided by granddaugh­ter, Sarah Bowling. Pallbearer­s serving were Matthew Bowling, Mark Mobley, Tony Bowling, Trevor McSwain, Glafus Bowling, Donnie Wood and Joe Garner.

Serving as honorary pallbearer was great-grandson, Noah Kelly.

Interment followed in New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery with Haralson County Veterans Associatio­n providing military honors.
