The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs and the Rockmart Lady Yellow Jackets starnd at midseason with big wins and good records heading into the latest round of region play this week.

The Lady Bulldogs (7-4, Region 5-AAAA, 4-2) scored big last week in a 17-1 win over Sandy Creek, with Ava Tillmann putting up a grand slam during the second inning to go up 16-0, allowing the game to come to an end in the third inning and giving the younger players a chance to get some real experience in a game.

However, the fun didn’t last for Cedartown last week after they fell 3-1 to Chapel Hill in a home game.

Now the Lady Bulldogs have a real test ahead, facing off against Cartersville on Tuesday after press time, and then traveling to LaGrange on Thursday to play.

On Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs host a double header against Arabia Mountain, followed by a Sept. 13 game at home against Central Carroll.

Back down in 7-AA ball, Rockmart is rolling along without a stutter. The Lady Yellow Jackets stand at 15-1 (Region 7-AA, 6-0) so far for the season, coming into the latest round of games with a 10-1 win over Gordon Central and a 14-0 win over Pepperell.

In previous weeks, the Lady Jackets have racked up wins over Model, Bowdon, Chattooga and Bremen as well.

They’ll be back in region play this week on Tuesday after press time hosting Dade County, then travel to Coosa on Thursday afternoon to play.
