Aragon church hosts ‘events’ for community

Breakfast, vintage flea market slated on September 9 - 10

The men and women of Aragon United Methodist Church will host 2 events for the community on Friday and Saturday, September 9-10.

The Methodist Men will hold their annual pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.

The breakfast will consist of pancakes, sausage and choice of drinks with free coffee refills for $ 5.

The women of the church, directed by the United Methodist Women, are planning a Vintage and Collectibl­e Sale on both days - Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9 - 10.

Friday’s sale will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday’s event is scheduled from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Shoppers can find new or nearly new brand named decorator, crystal and holiday items. These were donated by an anonymous collector with an affiliatio­n with Hallmark and who recently operated an On-Line Store.

Brands will include Hallmark, Princess House, Department 56, Ty and Ganz. Also available will be vintage Archie Comics, games and stuffed animals.

Organizers emphasize that this sale will feature something for everyone at affordable prices.

Aragon United Methodist Church reaches out to the community in several ways.

A food pantry, which is open twice weekly: Mondays, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesdays, 9 to 11 a.m.

The congregati­on supports local Back Pack Ministries, Murphy Harpst Children’s Center in Cedartown, Rockmart-Aragon Transition Housing Project, and the Christmas Shoebox Ministry through United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

Additional­ly, through UMCOR the United Methodist Women have made up numerous Health Kits, Birthing Kits and School Kits that are distribute­d around the world.

Pastor at Aragon United Methodist is James Hannah, an Emory Theology major. You are invited to attend Sunday School at 10 a.m. and Worship at 11 a.m. each Sunday.
