Mrs. Holtzclaw

Mrs. Edna Earline Swann Holtzclaw, age 56, of Cedartown, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 at her residence.

She was born in Rockmart on Jan. 6, 1960, a daughter of Bud and Edna Brewer Swann. She had lived all of her life in Polk County and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Cedartown.

She was a former employee of the Rockmart Nursing and Rehab Center and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchild­ren and her pets.

Mrs. Holtzclaw was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Holtzclaw.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Holtzclaw, Cedartown to whom she was married on November 2, 1975; daughter, Stephanie Hodge, Cedartown; three sons: Michael David Holtzclaw, St. Petersburg, Fla., Jonathan Holtzclaw, Carrollton and Jefferey Holtzclaw, St. Petersburg, Fla.; sister, Barbara Brantley, Rockmart; 11 grandchild­ren; one great granddaugh­ter and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 at 3 p.m. in the Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Whorton and Rev. Joel Smith officiatin­g, Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

Pallbearer­s will include: Alex Hodge, T.J. Roberts, Bobby Thurman and Justin Davis.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Southside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Heard

Mrs. Margie A. Rowell Heard, age 99 of Cedartown, passed away on September 4, 2016. She was born on March 22, 1917 in Buchannan, Georgia.

Mrs. Heard is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Nancy Tanner Rowell; her husband, Henry C. Heard; her sisters, Annie Mae Butler, Mozelle Cammons and Myrtle Rowell; her brothers, Albert Walker, Winford Rowell and W.R. Rowell.

Mrs. Heard is survived by her niece, Brenda Rowell Hunt; her nephews, Fred Rowell (Patti), Ken Rowell (Diane), Bill Rowell (Patti) and Don Smith.

The funeral arrangemen­ts for Mrs. Margie A. Rowell Heard will be conducted on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Pine Bower Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Rowell and Rev. Roger Kiser officiatin­g. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Heard will receive family and friends on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 12 o’clock in the afternoon until the funeral hour at the Pine Bower Baptist Church.

Mrs. Morton

Mrs. Phylice Ruth Carr Morton, age 76 of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1939 in Piedmont, Ala., the daughter of the late Wade and Pearl Bridges Carr.

Mrs. Morton is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Morton; her parents; and a number of brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Morton is survived by her sons, Barry Carter, Marty Carter, Joey Morton; a special niece, Carol Carter Tillery; six grandchild­ren; and six great grandchild­ren; and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Morton will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Tibbitts

Mrs. Mary Jane Tibbitts, age 73, of Aragon, passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 in a Rome nursing center following an extended illness.

She was born in Aragon, GA on Feb. 26, 1943 a daughter of the late Raymond Jasper Prater and Etta Mae Thompson Prater.

Mrs. Tibbitts had lived most of her life in the Aragon area where she was a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church and a former employee of the Integrated Mills of Aragon.

She loved to go shopping at Wal Mart, play bingo and spend time with her grandchild­ren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded by a husband, Bobby Streetman; by a son, Timothy Streetman; a daughter, Paula Deems; by two grandsons: Alex Posey and Justin Deems; by two sisters: Frances Henson and Effie Mae Henson; by a son in law, Rudy Posey and a daughter in law, Deonne Streetman.

Survivors include her husband, Virgil Tibbitts of Aragon to whom she was married on March 26, 1982; eight children: Serena Sloman (David), Aragon, Linda Tibbitts, Aragon, Olin Streetman (Carolyn), Aragon, Tommy Streetman, Aragon, Ann Floyd, White, Shelia Posey, Rockmart, Rev. Ronnie Tibbitts (Jan), Dallas and Randy Tibbitts (Mary), Dallas; 24 grandchild­ren; 31 great grandchild­ren; brother in law, Ottis Henson, Clarkdale and special friend, Carolyn Williams, Rome.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Revs. Archie Streetman, Charles Sutton, Tim Deems and Colt Deems officiatin­g. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearer­s included: Zachery Kirby, Levi Laffiette, Randy Tibbitts, Jason Deems, Devin Ploof, Shannon Prater, Mckade Bowman and Isaac Streetman. Honorary pallbearer­s included: Willow Sloman, Tyler Kirby, Emma Hindmon, Emily Hindmon and Chesley Powell.

Mrs. Richardson

Ms. Brenda Joyce Richardson, age 68, of Cedartown, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016.

She was born on Sept. 24, 1947 in Blount County, Ala., the daughter of the late D.L. Richardson and Maragem Lowry Richardson.

Ms. Richardson graduated from Cedartown High School in 1965 and continued on to Shorter College, where she graduated in 1969 with a BA in Biology.

She taught at Brewster Elementary in Polk County and Linley Junior High and Pebble Brook High School in Cobb County where she retired in 2000. She was nominated for teacher of the year by the Business Profession­al Women Associatio­n of Cobb County.

She is a member and former president and community service leader of the Polk Retired Education Associatio­n of Polk County. Ms. Brenda was a lifelong member of Pine Bower Baptist Church.

Ms. Richardson is survived by her sisters, Lynda Deese, Jackie Mosley and Patti Dunagan (Bruce); brother, Donnie Richardson; sister-in-law, Debra Richardson; nieces and nephews, Colby Deese, Allissia Deese, Chad Garner, Jamie Mosley, Jeremy Richardson, Erica Brown and Kelley Richardson and great-nieces and nephews, Trenton Garner, Trista Garner, Ellie Mosley, Harper Mosley, Tye Davis, M.J. Brown and Adrianna Deese.

Ms. Richardson is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Randy Richardson and Wayne Richardson.

The funeral arrangemen­ts for Ms. Brenda Joyce Richardson were conducted on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Kiser officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the Pine Bower Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Foster

Mr. John Thomas Foster, age 84, of Rockmart passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 in a Rome nursing center following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Pleasant Hill, Ill. on Jan. 20, 1932, a son of the late Harold Wesley Foster and Alta Mae Gill Foster.

Mr. Foster had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart; was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict and was of the Baptist faith.

He retired from the Goodyear Mill of Cartersvil­le where he worked for 32 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Williams Foster on Nov. 20, 1998; by a grandson, Brian Wimpey; by two brothers: Russell and Burdette Foster and by three sisters: Maude Conner, Bernice Craigmiles and Genevieve Rowland.

Survivors include three daughters: Tommie Lynn Savage, Rockmart, Teresa Morgan (Scotty), Rockmart and Carol Griffin (Larry), Rome; a sister, Maybelle Epiley, Hannibal, MO; five grandchild­ren, six great grandchild­ren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 4, 2106 at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Goolesby officiatin­g and a eulogy given by a son in law, Larry Griffin.

Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens with Military Honors under the direction of the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion.

Pallbearer­s included: Mike Roberts, Derrick Tilley, Phil Tilley, Charles Soles, Eric Fennell and David Savage.

Mr. Gosdin

Mr. Larry Julian “Butch” Gosdin, age 68 of Cedartown, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016.

He was born in Wedowee, Ala., the son of the late Elvon Gosdin and Mary Duffie Cantrell.

Mr. Gosdin is survived by his daughter, Missy “Mery” Lieurance (Jimmy Langston); son; Larry J. Gosdin (Laura Corn); sisters, Judy Glebosky (Tony) and Edith Hale; brothers, Wesley Cantrell (Betty), Leon Cantrell (Rosie) and Paul Cantrell (Suzanne); sister-in-laws, Shirley Cantrell, Gertie Cantrell, Joann Cantrell and Connie Cantrell; grandchild­ren, Tyler Gosdin, Holly Gosdin, Austin Alred, Jay “CJ” Lieurance; Nakita L. Bullard (Brandon) and Jada Lieurance; great-grandchild­ren, Mason Lieurance and Makayla Lieurance; step-children, Heather Blackmon, Terressa Waldrop, Jeremay Adam and Joel Kelley and step-grandchild­ren, Alexis Moon, Wesley Moon, Slae Hand, Dustin Waldrop, Brandon Kelley, Allen Kelley, Nicole Adams, Shane Adams and Steven Adams.

Mr. Gosdin is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Paul Cantrell; brothers, Billy Cantrell, Horace Cantrell, Hurshell Cantrell, Harold Cantrell, and Chris Cantrell and grandparen­ts, Vass and Cora Duffie and Velma Dewberry.

Mr. Kemp

Mr. George Wallace Kemp Sr., 86, of Cave Spring died Thursday morning, Sept. 1, 2016 at his residence following a short illness.

Mr. Kemp was born in Bowdon, Georgia Dec. 25, 1929, a son of the late Robert Edgar Kemp and the late Dana Lovvorn Kemp.

Mr. Kemp attended Berry College prior to serving as a tank commander in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. After service, he finished his degree at Statesboro Teachers College where he met his future wife.

Mr. Kemp taught Industrial Arts in Bassett, Va., served as principal at an elementary school in LaGrange, taught at Coosa Valley Tech, and served as maintenanc­e director for the Rome City Schools.

He finished his teaching career and retired from the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring. A devoted husband and father, Mr. Kemp also built and remodeled houses until the age of 85, and was a gifted furniture maker.

Always putting his family and others ahead of himself, Mr. Kemp was a Godly man and was a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church

Besides his parents, Mr. Kemp was preceded in death by four brothers, Aaron Kemp, James Kemp, Hascal Kemp and Troy Kemp, and by two sisters, Mrs. Ila McCloud and Mrs. Charlotte Nuckolls.

Mr. Kemp is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Edna Faye Morgan, to whom he was married Aug. 21, 1955; by one son, George Wallace Kemp Jr. and his wife Dawn, and by two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kemp Wade and her husband Buster, and Mrs. Kathleen Kemp Jester and her husband Henry.

Four grandchild­ren, David Jester, Heather Jester Burgess and her husband Tony, Mark Wade, and Candy Wade; two great grandsons, Wesley Wade and Jeremy Wade; one great-grandson, Colton Wade, and one sister, Mrs. Jerolene Williams also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Kemp were held Sunday afternoon Sept. 4. 2016 at 5 p.m. at the Rehoboth Baptist Church with Rev John Fleming and Dr. David McKenzie officiatin­g.

His daughter in law, Dr. Dawn Kemp provided special music.

Interment will follow in the Rehoboth Community Cemetery with the Honor Guard of the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion providing Military Honors.

Pallbearer­s included Buster Wade, Henry Jester, David Jester, Tony Burgess, Jimmy Kemp, Michael Dempsey, and Steve Kemp. An honorary escort will include H. J. Kemp, Frank Osborne, Lester Tierce, Charles Howell, Jerry Don Dempsey, and Jim Dunn.

The family received friends at the church Sunday prior to the funeral hour.

Mr. Fricks

Mr. James ( Jim) Thomas Fricks, son of Joe Tom Fricks and Willie Mae Bradley Fricks passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 1, 2016 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born July 7, 1930 in Pickens County, and was raised in Jasper, Ellijay, and Rome.

Mr. Fricks graduated from McHenry High School and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Germany during the 1950’s.

He was a longtime member of Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church, where he served as an Elder, a member of the choir and other positions over the years.He retired from Southern Auto Supply Company after 40 years of service and went on to work at Powell’s Auto Parts in his retirement.

Mr. Fricks is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Jean (Broome) Fricks and their three sons; Tim (Beverly) Fricks of Flowery Branch.; Brad (Amy) of Marietta.; and Phil (Amanda) Fricks of Rome. He has five grandchild­ren: Jake, Ben, Mary Anna, Katie, and Samuel Fricks; step grandchild­ren Kerrie (Kevin) Martin, and Kyle Matthews; step great grandchild­ren Connor and Huckleberr­y.

Mr. Fricks is also survived by one sister, Kay (John) Herndon of Cedartown, and three brothers: Billy (Reba) Fricks, Cleveland; Fred Fricks, Tampa, Fla.; Jack Fricks of Hudson, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Mr. Fricks’ life was held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 at 1 p.m at Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church in Rome. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor to Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church.

The family wishes to extend their appreciati­on to the care- givers at Renaissanc­e Marquis, Kindred, Redmond Park and Floyd Hospitals and Golden Living Nursing Home for their exceptiona­l support.

Mrs. Whitehead

Mrs. Edith Marlene Hight Whitehead, age 84 of Rockmart passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016.

Mrs. Whitehead was born Oct. 2, 1931 in Rome, daughter of the late Luther Hight and the late Hazel Goss Hight.

She was raised in Rome and was a graduate of the Rome Girls High School. While living in Rome, she was a member of the North Broad Baptist Church. In 1965, she and her husband, Robert H. (Buck) Whitehead, who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2013, purchased a florist in Rockmart which is currently known as Whitehead’s Flower House.

Mrs. Whitehead was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Lou Hight Rogers.

Survivors included a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Robert Sanford; two grandchild­ren, Matt Sanford and his wife Lisa and Hadley Sanford and his wife Britteny all of Rockmart; three greatgrand­children, Parker Sanford, Peyton Sanford and Chelsey Reynolds also survived.

Funeral graveside and interment services for Mrs. Whitehead were held on Friday morning, Sept. 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the family lot of the East View Cemetery of Rome with Rev. Maryellen Hittel and Dr. Connie Langford officiatin­g.

Mrs. Watts

Mrs. Kate Shepard Watts, age 89, of Rockmart passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016 at her residence.

She was born in Paulding County on Sept. 15, 1926, a daughter of the late James Alfred Shepard and Vida Tant Shepard.

Mrs. Watts had been a resident of Rockmart for the past 65 years and was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

She was a retired employee of the Goodyear Mill and later worked for Big Lots for over ten years.

Mrs. Watts enjoyed reading her Bible and having phone conversati­ons with her family. She also collected dolls and enjoyed traveling.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Rev. Fred Junior Watts in 2006; by a son, Douglas Roy Watts; by brothers: Ivey, Walter, Doyal, Amos and Alfred Shepard and by sisters: Mary Dunn, Mattie Lee, Mae Akins and Stella Holland.

Survivors include a son, James Charles Watts, Rockmart; daughter, Laura Watts Waddell and husband Daryle, Rockmart; nine grandchild­ren: Stacie Bello, Tampa, Fla., Jason Watts, Holliday, Fla., Richard Watts, Cartersvil­le, Charlie Tucker, Rockmart, Gretchen Swales, Woodstock, Brigitta Watts, Woodstock, Katrina (Kat) Watts, Canton, Shane Waddell, Douglasvil­le and James Waddell, Villa Rica; fourteen great grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Marilyn Edwards, Rockmart.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 at 3 p.m. in the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Hoyt Lewis, Brian Lewis, Levi Wyatt and Clifton Brown officiatin­g. A eulogy was given by her daughter, Laura Waddell.

Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens with Bro. Randy Smith officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s included: Charlie Tucker, Shane Waddell, James Waddell, Junior Bollen, Jimmy Priest and Clifford Shepard. Tina Williams, Larry Dunn, Jerry Dunn and Daryle Waddell served as honorary pallbearer­s.

Mrs. Sutton

Mrs. Jerry Carole Sutton, age 78 of Cedartown, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016.

She was born on April 6, 1938 in Polk County, the daughter of the late Thomas Herschel Stephens and Bertie Moncrief Stephens.

Mrs. Sutton is survived by her husband, Bill Sutton; sons, William Sutton Jr., Barry Sutton and Stephen Sutton; brothers, Thomas H. Stephens Jr. and Mike Stephens; five grandchild­ren, Collin Sutton, Correy Sutton, Mike Sutton, Cody Smiley and McKenzie Anderson; two great-grandchild­ren, Hunter Sutton and Bella Sutton and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wayne Reed Maiden Sr. age 65, of Cedartown, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016.

He was born on July 22, 1951 in Trenton, Michigan, the son of the late Reed “Chief” and Katherine Elizabeth Hampton Maiden.

Mr. Maiden is survived by his daughter, Allyson Deems; sons, Wayne Reed Maiden II (Angela), Tyler Maiden and Dillon Maiden; grandchild­ren, Hayley, Lauren, Reed, Kail, Jenna, McKeena and Brantley and greatgrand­children, Mallori, Derrick and Camden.

In keeping with Mr. Maiden’s wishes, he was cremated.

A memorial service for Mr. Wayne Reed Maiden, Sr. was conducted on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 at 7 p.m. in the Gammage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Powers officiatin­g.

Mrs. Weaver

Mrs. Lisa Darlene Weaver, age 57, of Cedartown, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016.

Mrs. Weaver was born on June 11, 1959 in Polk County to her parents, the late E.C. “Buster” Smith and Edna Connor Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Steve Ray Corn, Sr., a grandson, Colby and brothers, Charles, Robert and Glenn Smith.

Mrs. Weaver was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her loving family, her sister, Sherry Boomer; her bother, Timothy Tucker; her daughter, Christy Corn; her fiancé, John Swindall; her son, Ray Corn; her three grandchild­ren, Hayden, Jayden and Brayden and her loyal lap dog and constant companion, Ruby.

Graveside and Interment services for Mrs. Lisa Darlene Weaver were conducted on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at 5 p.m. from the Young’s Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Harrell officiatin­g.

Mr. Sisson

Mr. Melton “Ricky” Sisson, age 63 of Aragon passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016.

Mr. Sisson was born April 16, 1953 in Atlanta, son of the late Glen Sisson and the late Margaret Roberson Sisson.

He retired from both Engineered Fabrics Corporatio­n and Old Fashion Foods and was of the Baptist faith. Ricky enjoyed motorcycle riding, playing golf and had a great love for his family.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Jean Hulsey Sisson.

Survivors included his wife, Rachel Ann McCormick Sisson of Aragon to whom he was married Oct. 1, 1999; two sons, Richard Sisson of Aragon and Buddy Caudle of Dalton; daughter, Brittney Childers of Calhoun; three sisters, Carolyn Womack of Aragon, Joyce (Whit) Dunn of Centre, Alabama and Jeannie (Don) Wolfe of Summervill­e; two brothers, Carlton (Peggy) Sisson of Cedartown and William Sisson of Atlanta; two grandchild­ren, Riley and Jesse also survived.

Funeral services for Mr. Sisson were held on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Robinson officiatin­g.

Interment services followed in the family lot of the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery of Paulding County.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Whit Dunn, Donald Sullivan, Josh Robinson, Dwayne Knight, Terry Roberson and Matt Daniels.

Honorary pallbearer­s were Connor Mobbs and Hubert Cole.

Mr. Barnes

Mr. Edwin Dewayne Barnes, age 45, of the Blacks Bluff Road Community in Rome, passed away on Saturday evening, Aug. 27, 2016 following an extended illness.

Mr. Barnes was born on Oct. 16, 1970 in Rome to his parents, Edwin Barnes and Gayle Elaine Kelley Barnes.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a son, Justin Barnes. He was a member of the Community Chapel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving family, his sons and daughter in law, Dustin and Haley Barnes; his daughter, Selena Barnes; his father, Edwin Barnes; his sister and brother in law, Gayle and Scottie Lanning; three grandchild­ren and a number of other relatives also survive.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Barnes was cremated.

A memorial service for Mr. Edwin Dewayne Barnes was conducted on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 3, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the sanctuary of the Community Chapel Baptist Church in Rome with the Rev. Max Tucker officiatin­g.

The family greeted guests at the church immediatel­y following the memorial service.

Mr. Staton

Mr. Timothy Joe (Tim) Staton, age 57, of Rome, passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2106 in a Rome nursing center.

He was born in Atlanta on May 30, 1959 a son of the late Howard C. (Buddy) Staton and Betty Sue Aycock Staton.

Mr. Staton attended Peachtree High School. The family lived in the Doraville area before moving to Acworth and then to Rome in 1988.

He was affectiona­tely known as “Shorty” by many of his friends.

Survivors include a sister, Beverly Smith (Don), Rome; two brothers: Carly Staton, Armuchee and Bill Staton (Debra), Summervill­e and a number of nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Jonathan Cook, Rome.

Memorial graveside services were held Monday, Aug. 29, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the East View Cemetery with Minister Michael Farris and Mr. Mark Hilbert officiatin­g.

Mr. Burrus

Mr. Curtis Lee Burrus, age, 59, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2016.

Mr. Burrus was born Oct. 4, 1956 in Ranger, Texas.

In 1987 Mr. Burrus and his family moved to Aragon. He has worked for the Georgia Department of Transporta­tion maintenanc­e division for the past 11 years.

Prior to his time at the Department of Transporta­tion, Mr. Burrus and his wife Laura owned a painting and turnkey business where they contracted mainly at Post Apartments in Smyrna, refurbishi­ng apartment homes.

He was actively involved with the City of Aragon and was acting Mayor after serving 8 years as a city council member. He was running to retain the seat as Mayor in November’s special election.

Mr. Burrus also worked with the city Volunteer Fire Department, even serving some time as the volunteer fire chief. He cared deeply about the City of Aragon and its people. He worked tirelessly, even as his health declined, to make Aragon a better place to live.

What Mr. Burrus loved most was spending time with his family and friends; whether it was a backyard BBQ, spending time by the pool, or just driving around socializin­g. Curtis especially loved his 4 grandchild­ren; never missing an award ceremony, play or sporting event.

He would attend any event that they were at and never passed up an opportunit­y to brag about his girls and his grand-children.

Mr. Burrus is survived by his mother, Frances McLaren; wife, Laura Burrus; daughters, Cody Madrid and Cassie Caudell; grandchild­ren, Georgia Knight, Adonis Burrus, Ezra Caudell and Emma Caudell; and sonin-laws, Levi Caudell and Armando Madrid.
