Lady Bulldogs cheer squad look to start season with win

From Staff Reports

-

The Cedartown Lady Bulldog competition cheer squad is back in action for the season starting this weekend, and is seeking another chance at a state title in a new classification and region.

Varsity squad members take to the floor at Pepperell on Saturday at noon to start the season in their first competition, according to head coach Brigitte Tillery.

“They are excited to begin,” she said. “The new region this year will be tougher for all Cedartown high sports, and cheerleading is no different. Coming off of a state runner-up title will be tough to follow, especially facing the new teams in region AAAA.”

Tillery said with the new region competition in mind, the squad has put together a routine they hope will set a new bar for the rest of the schools in 5-AAAA.

“They have worked extremely hard to put together a tough two and one half minute routine this year,” Tillery said. “The squad has several injuries at the time and will fall short in the tumbling category of the score sheet this Saturday, but will compete at the best of their abilities.”

The squad members who are presently injured will be performing, but will be marking all tumbling throughout the routine, Tillery said.

“We expect a lower score this week in tumbling, but hope to max out in jumps, stunting and pyramids,” she said. “We are looking forward to an exciting and hopefully successful season for 2016. The season will continue until Region Competition on Nov. 5, 2016.”
