The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs and the Rockmart Lady Yellow Jackets keep racking up the wins this season as region play continues this week following a thrilling weekend for both softbal clubs.

Rockmart, who as of press time Monday stood at 17-1, finished off their week with wins against both Dade County on Sept. 6 and Armuchee on Sept. 8. The Lady Jackets racked up a 9-0 win over the Lady Wolverines at home, then hosted the Lady Indians again for their 3-0 victory.

The Lady Jackets haven’t lost a game based on the stats available online since their 5-3 loss against rival Cedartown back in August.

Rockmart goes on the road this week, first to Coosa up in Floyd County on Tuesday after press time, then heads off to Dade County on Thursday in region play.

Meanwhile, the Lady Bulldogs are also on a winning streak.

Cedartown has put up four wins on their books since the Sept. 1 loss to Chapel Hill, beating out Cartersville at home on Sept. 6 in an extra inning 1-0, then traveling to LaGrange for an 8-0 win on Sept. 8.

Over the weekend, the Lady Bulldogs got a chance to hold their annual cancer awareness day with a double header against Arabia Mountain. The Lady Bulldogs held ceremonies at the pitcher’s circle and gave Cedartown Police’s John Pilgram the opportunity to throw out a pitch as this year’s honoree.

Cedartown then came out of the day with 2-0 and 6-4 wins.

The Lady Bullodgs are back in action on Tuesday after press time at home against Central Carroll, then heads to Troup County on Sept. 20 after a short break.
