The Polk County Board of Education’s last two meetings have been announced for 2016. They’ll hold combined regular and work sessions on Dec. 13, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the Board of Education meeting room located at the Polk School District central office in downtown Ce-dartown at 612 S. The City of Cedartown City Commission will meet for their regular monthly session on Nov. 14, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the city commission meeting room at city hall, located in down-town Cedartown at 201 East Ave. Visit Cedartowngeorgia.gov for more information or call 770-748-3220.
The Polk County Commission will meet for their work session and regular monthly meetings starting at 5:15 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, followed by the 7 p.m. regular session on Tuesday, Nov. 8 in the commission meeting room located at the Polk County Police Department, 73 Clines Ingram Jackson Road, Cedartown. The Aragon City Council will meet on Nov. 10 to swear in new city council members and a mayor following the Nov. 8 election. Aragon will also hold its November council meeting on Nov. 17, with the work session to start at 6 p.m. and the public meeting at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Visit cityofaragon.com for more information.
The Rockmart City Council is scheduled to meet starting at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8, 2016 in the council chambers at city hall, locat-ed at 316 N. Piedmont Avenue, Rockmart. Visit Rockmart-ga.gov or call 770-684-5454 for more information.
Polk County Board of Health will meet on Nov. 10, 2016 for their upcoming session at the Polk County Health Depart-ment, 125 E. Ware St., Cedartown.
The Polk County Board of Tax Assessors meets the first Tuesday of each month, at 9 a.m. located in the Polk County Administration Building-Suite F. Their coming meeting is set to be held on Nov. 1, 2016.

The Historic Van Wert Church, built in 1846, is in need of extensive restoration projects, and since 2005 a concerned group of local residents have taken on the project and are in need of additional financial assistance.
