Mr. Chapman

Mr. Winston Fields Chapman, age 70, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016.

He was the son of the late Benjamin Fields Chapman and Mira June Chapman (Grider).

Per Mr. Chapman’s wishes, he will be cremated. A private memorial service for Mr. Chapman will be conducted at a later time.

Mrs. Goolsby

Mary Goolsby, age 68 of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 at 3 p.m. from Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel.

The family received friends at the funeral home Monday, Nov. 7, 2016.

Mr. Redden

Mr. James Howard Redden, age 73 of Rockmart, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016.

He was born on Aug. 4, 1943 in Cedartown, the son of loving parents, Sarah Lee Redden and the late John L. Redden Sr.

Mr. Redden was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served his country proudly in the Vietnam War. He married Gloria Strickland Redden on Sept. 3, 1966, and couple lived in several locations before settling in Rockmart.

He owned and operated his own business, Commercial Parts and Service Co., Inc. (CAPSCO), before retiring.

Mr. Redden is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Gloria Strickland Redden; mother, Sarah Lee Redden; daughters, Debra McElheney (Ronnie) and Beverly Ballard (Ray); sisters, Carolyn Parr (Don) and Edith Threadgill (Danny); brother, John L. Redden Jr.; 6 grandchild­ren, Amanda McElheney, Ryan McElheney, Abbi Ballard, Wesley Ballard, Brittney Ballard and Matthew Ballard; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Redden is preceded in death by two nephews, Mr. Barry White of Cedartown and Mr. Todd Elliott of Rockmart.

The funeral arrangemen­ts for Mr. James Howard Redden were conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Ryan McElheney and Rev. Roger Parris officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the Northview Cemetery, with full Military Rites conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Keith Redden, Shane Redden, Terry Elliott, Tracey Elliott, Steve Strickland and Dan Strickland.

Mr. Deaton

Mr. John Marcus Deaton, age 76 of Taylorsvil­le passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 with his family by his side.

Mr. Deaton was born Oct. 8, 1940 in Taylorsvil­le, son of the late Joel Franklin Deaton and the late Mildred Harris Deaton.

He was an active member of the Silver Creek Church of God and retired from Shaw Industries in 1997 with 27 years of service. He had a great love for family, cars and music.

Survivors included two sons, James Marcus Deaton of Rome and Dr. John Franklin Deaton and his wife Pamela of Kennesaw and their mother, Sherry Ann Bowling Deaton; sister, Sue Stiles of Augusta; brother, Joel Harris Deaton of Rome; and two grandchild­ren, Brandon Deaton and Cody Deaton also survived.

Funeral services for Mr. Deaton were held on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Edwards officiatin­g.

Interment services followed in the family lot of the Taylorsvil­le Cemetery.

Mr. Dean

Mr. Amorous Eugene Dean, age 65, of Cedartown, passed away on Friday evening, Nov. 4, 2016 following a brief illness.

Mr. Dean was born on April 5, 1951 in Powder Springs to his parents, the late Thomas E. Dean and Mary Louise Hardeman Dean.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Andrew Dean and George Lamar Dean.

Mr. Dean had served in the United States Army and had attained the rank of Tank Sargent, while serving with the Army's Tank and Armored Division.

He was an electricia­n with the Syntec Corporatio­n. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church, but attended Pine Bower Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Mrs. Jo Ann Mullinax Dean; his son, Jonathan Casey; his daughters and son in law, Camron and Anthony Wood and Rhonda Ashmore; his sister and brother in law, Karen and Harold Garrett; his grandchild­ren, Lauren Ashmore, Sam Ashmore and Logan Casey; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Amorous Eugene Dean were conducted on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2016 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Kiser officiatin­g. Interment followed in the Polk Memory Gardens. The family received friends on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2016 at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Heath

Mrs. Willie Pearl Heath, age 89, of Rome, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 in a Rome medical center.

She was born in Columbus on Sept. 13, 1927, a daughter of the late Clyde Walden and Odie Pearl Eason Walden.

Mrs. Heath had lived the greater part of her life in Cartersvil­le and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Evelyn Walden.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Lanham and her husband Joe of Rome; six grandchild­ren: Greg (Angela) Lanham, Dawn Lanham, Brandi Lanham, Jodi (Cindy) Lanham, Sean (Chey) Lanham and April (Neal) Mulkey; and twelve great grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Edwards and Rev. Josh Cowart officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery of Cartersvil­le.

Pallbearer­s will include: Greg Lanham, Jodi Lanham, Neal Mulkey, Sean Lanham, Levi Hunt and Tristan Hunt.

Mrs. Cotton

Mrs. Beulah “Bebe” Kathleen Warren Cotton, age 83, of Cedartown, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016.

She was born on April 12, 1933 in Anniston, Ala., the daughter of the late James B. Warren and Mary Bell Allaway.

Mrs. Cotton is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Tawana Cotton Jarrell and Bobby Joe and Sandra Cotton McCollum and Chuck; sons and daughter-in-laws, James Mike Cotton and Cathy and Alvin “Buddy” Cotton and Gail; brother, George A. Warren; seven grandchild­ren; 13 great-grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cotton is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James E. Cotton; one grandson; one great-granddaugh­ter and numerous brothers and sisters.

The funeral arrangemen­ts for Mrs. Beulah Kathleen Warren Cotton were conducted Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Pointer officiatin­g.

Mr. Kines

Mr. Austin Joe Kines, age 92 of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016.

He was born on Sept. 13, 1924 in Rock Run, Ala., the son of the late Glenn and Flossie Hinton Kines.

Mr. Kines is survived by his daughter, Angela K. King; sons and daughter-in-laws, Joe and Rubye Kines and Bruce and Priscilla Kines; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Arlene Kines; grandchild­ren, Joey and Ashley King, Katie Kines and Keith Langston; great-grandchild­ren, Matthew Langston, Joshua Langston, Jay King, TY King and Jesse King and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kines was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Greathel Williams Kines; sister, Ruth Gowens; brother, Harvey Kines and granddaugh­ter, Susan Langston.

Mr. Lipham

Mr. Frank Lipham, age 74, of Rockmart, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 upon arrival to a Rome medical center.

He was born in Rockmart on Feb. 3, 1942 and had lived all of his life in the Bellview community.

Mr. Lipham had a great love for his family, espe- cially his grandchild­ren. He loved to coon hunt and go mudding with family and friends. He owned and operated Frank's Auto Parts and Wrecker Service for over forty years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Duke and by two sisters: Glenda Lipham and Shirley Lumpkin.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Estelle Lipham to whom he was married on July 3, 1964; four daughters: Teresa (Terry) Crump, Adairsvill­e, Angie (Scott) Jacobs, Rockmart, Kim (Jerry) Ross, Lindale and Deanna (Mathew) Hall, Rockmart; one son, David (Jennifer) Lipham, Rockmart; ten grandchild­ren: Blake, Chelsea, Corey, Casey, Andy, Austin, Alison, Anslea, Haley and Bella and three great grandchild­ren: Riley, Anna Belle and Caroline.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with Minister Craig Hallman and Rev. Eddy Hughes officiatin­g. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery with Minister Josh Clevenger officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s included: Blake Harris, Corey Lipham, Casey Blackmon, Andy Turner, Austin Turner, Evan Hughes and Doug Swift.

Little Miss Ella Grayce Pointer

Little Miss Ella Grayce Gail Pointer, 21 months old, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016.

Ella Grayce was born on January 6, 2015 in Rome, the daughter of Shellby Garner and Dylan Pointer.

She was preceded in death by great grandparen­ts, Richard Garner and Jimmy and Linda Houston and a uncle, Hunter Pointer.

Little Miss Ella Grayce is survived by her mother, Shellby Garner; her father, Dylan Pointer; her grandparen­ts, Joy Shell and Will Lovelace, Jackie Garner, Amy Houston, James Pointer and Nana, Tiffany Garner; her great grandparen­ts, Don and Sandra Shell, Sammy and Donna Pointer and Dorothy Garner; her great great grandparen­ts, Rev. Marvin and Faye Mobbs; her aunts and uncles, Lee Cain, Cody Eaves, Brandon Garner, Savannah Garner, Luke Garner, Brayden Pointer and Shelby Pointer. A number of cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Little Miss Ella Grayce Gail Pointer were conducted on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Welchel, Rev. Anthony Trawick and Rev. Richard Brannon officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the Dugdown Baptist Church Cemetery.

A balloon release followed the committal service.

With Ella Grayce loving Disney characters, especially Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the family requested that if possible visitors wear Disney character shirts or bright colors to the funeral.

Mrs. Beverly Grimes Morgan, age 59 of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016.

She was born on Sept. 9, 1957 in Rome, the daughter of Marie McDonald Grimes and the late Porter C. Grimes.

Mrs. Morgan is survived by her husband, Henry Morgan Jr.; mother, Marie McDonald Grimes; daughters, Heather Maddox Hutchins (Jason) and Machelle Maddox Crawford (Joey); brother, Randall Grimes and four grandchild­ren, Madison Morgan Crawford, Adrian Riley Hutchins, Hayden Connor Crawford and Parker Alexander Hutchins.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her father, Porter C. Grimes.

Mr. Murphy

Mr. Ed Murphy, age 89, of Rome, Georgia, and Franklin, North Carolina, died October 28, 2016.

Mr. Murphy was born in Haralson County to William Linton and Zera Bowman Murphy (both deceased).

Mr. Murphy was a devoted husband to his wife and lifetime sweetheart Nell Cowart Murphy (deceased), brother to Olin Murphy (deceased) and Linda Murphy Jarrell of Buchanan, father to Ken Murphy (Amy) of Franklin, N.C., and grandfathe­r to Chris Murphy (Kelli) of Decatur, and Kevin Murphy (Rachel) of Boca Raton, Fla.

Mr. Murphy graduated from Tallapoosa High School, entered the U.S. Army, and served in postwar Germany. Upon returning to civilian life, Mr. Murphy attended West Georgia College and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Agricultur­al Education.

Early in his career Mr. Murphy taught vocational agricultur­e at high schools in Georgia and enjoyed serving as an advisor to local FFA chapters.

He took a position with Internatio­nal Minerals and Chemicals Corp. in the late 1960s while living in Forsyth and worked for IMC in Tifton, and Spartanbur­g, S.C.

Mr. Murphy retired from IMC in the mid-1980s and returned to his farmland in west Georgia. He loved wood working and hunting and was known for the beautiful flowers that made his wooded yard resemble a park.

He and Nell later moved to a retirement community in Rome, Georgia.

Mr. Murphy was an active and faithful member of the United Methodist Church. Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Heart Associatio­n, the First United Methodist Church in Cedartown, or the Second Avenue United Methodist Church in Rome.

Mrs. Moody

Mrs. Mary Ruth Moody, age 84, of Cedartown, passed away on Monday evening, Oct. 3, 2016.

Mrs. Moody was born on June 18, 1932 in Haralson County the daughter of the late James Arthur Long and the late Lillie Pearl Adkins Long.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Hiram “Bill” Moody.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Duncan and her grad daughter, Sabrina Lynn Duncan. She is also survived by her loving and devoted cat and dog, Baddie and Skippy.

In keeping with Mrs. Moody’s wishes, she was cremated.

The Memorial Service for Mrs. Mary Ruth Moody was conducted on Friday afternoon, Oct. 7, 2016 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

The family received friends on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 prior to the funeral hour at the Litesey Funeral Home.
