Mr. Gunnell

Mr. Raymond Edward Gunnell, age 79 of Taylorsvil­le, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016.

He was born on Nov. 27, 1936 in Paulding County.

Mr. Gunnell was a United States Veteran serving in the US Army and a member of the Masonic Latham Lodge #12 in Austell.

He was also a member of the Due West Methodist Church in Marietta.

Mr. Gunnell served on several committees including presiding as President of the United Methodists Mens group. After moving from Cobb County to Taylorvill­e, he joined Rockmart First United Methodist Church in Rockmart.

An avid outdoorsma­n, Mr. Gunnell enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, hunting, traveling and participat­ing in classic car shows with his antique cars.

Mr. Gunnell will live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 46 years, Jan McCollum Gunnell formally of Cedartown; his son, Jason Gunnell and daughter in law, Julie Marshall Gunnell; his son, Todd Gunnell of St. Simons; his granddaugh­ter, Ava Elizabeth Gunnell; his grandson, Adam Eckerd of St. Simons; and extended family and friends.

Mr. Gunnell was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Gunnell and Gladys Prewett Gunnell; his brother, Wendell Gunnell; his daughter, Gayle Gunnell Eckerd.

The funeral arrangemen­ts for Mr. Raymond Edward Gunnell were conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Brother Greg Lochlear officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the Northview Cemetery. Military Rites were conducted by the Brewster Cleveland American Legion Post 86.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Tyler Gunnell, Jared Gunnell, Trent Gunnell, JuDon Baldwin, Russ Houser, and Kevin Shortridge.

Honorary pallbearer­s were William H. Powell, Jr., Emily Foster, and his car cruising buddies.

The family of Mr. Gunnell received family and friends on Monday evening, Nov. 7, 2016 at the Gammage Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to the Heyman Hospice Care at Floyd or any charity of your choice. Flowers are also accepted.
