Chattooga throttles Washington County 38-7

From Staff Reports

-

The Chattooga Indians turned some heads last weekend when they went on the road and beat Lamar County 44-14. Last Friday night, they made sure the entire state took notice.

The Indians pulled their second straight upset with a 38-7 beat down against Region 3-AA Champion Washington County (8-4) Friday. The Indians, who scored the final 25 points of the game, are going to the quarterfinals for the first time ever.

Per usual, Chattooga was lead by the twin duo of Isaiah and Isaac Foster, with Isaiah scoring three touchdowns and Isaac scoring twice. Four of those scores came in the first half, when the Indians (8-4) jumped to a 28-7 lead.

All game, the Fosters were helped out by an offensive line that is certainly peaking at the right time.

“The offensive line is creating holes that a lot of people can run through,” Chattooga coach Charles Hammon said. “The unit has really gelled, and it is happening at the right time.”

While the Indians finished No. 3 in Region 7-AA, Hammon said the team has proven all season it has talent. All four teams Chattooga lost to this season made the playoffs, and three of them made it to the second round.

Chattooga plays Hapeville Charter this week, an Atlanta school that won Region 6-AA. After two straight upsets, Hammon said him and his team are ready to hit the road again.
