Mrs. Robinson

Mrs. Doress Posey Millhollan Robinson, age 81 of Rockmart passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016.

Mrs. Robinson was born March 26, 1935 in Buchanan, daughter of the late Leonard Chester Posey and the late Vassie Irene Leatherwoo­d Posey.

She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Robinson had a great love for family, friends, laughter and work. She was a master cosmetolog­ist for 42 years, having owned and operated The Chatterbox in downtown Rockmart.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, E.S. Donald ( Sonny) Millhollan on June 25, 1964 and Roland H. Robinson on Sept. 17, 2009; son, Sonny Gerald Millhollan, Sr.; and a brother, Bobby Gerald Posey.

Survivors included a daughter, Dondra M. Hutcheson of Rockmart; sister, Joy Posey Barrett of Summerton, South Carolina; three grandchild­ren, Sonny Gerald Millhollan Jr., Joshua Dell Millhollan, Kyle David Hutcheson; six great-grandchild­ren, Madison Hope Millhollan, Brantley Millhollan, Dalvin Millhollan, Jalon Millhollan, Anna Larkyn Millhollan and Abbie Criner also survived.

Funeral services for Mrs. Robinson were held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Brown and Dr. Aaron Johnson officiatin­g.

Interment services followed in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Sonny Millhollan Jr., Brantley Millhollan, Josh Millhollan, Tripp Barrett, Woody Barrett and Kyle David Hutcheson.

Honorary escorts were: Dalvin Millhollan, Jalon Millhollan, Larkyn Millhollan, Madison Millhollan and Abbie Criner.

Mr. Clements

Mr. Jesse Clements, age 91, of Cedartown, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2016.

He was born on July 5, 1925, a son of the late James and Lizze Mae Briskey Clements.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Weaver Clements; brother, James Clements; sister, Owana Humber; uncle, Fletcher Wink (Ted) Letlow; and son in law, Jerry Bowen.

Mr. Clements is survived by his daughters: Barbara Bowen, Becky Millican and her husband Kent; grandson, Shay Harrell and his wife Tina and their children: Benjamin Harrell and Zella Harrell; granddaugh­ter, Jolee Gray and her husband Davy and their children: Ramplee Colbert and Bex Gray.

He attended First Baptist Church of Cedartown and was a member of the L.D. Wheeler Bible Class.

Mr. Clements at a young age served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945, then was employed at Goodyear in Cedartown for 19 years and thereafter worked as an agent for Allstate Insurance Company in Rome for 43 years where he earned many awards and honors during his career.

He converted to Christ in his teens and was faithful in serving Christ, his church and the Cedartown community in many Christian activities. For over 50 years, he taught Sunday School and was ordained as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Cedartown during the tenure of Dr. Hugh L. Smith.

Mr. Clements was active and financiall­y supportive in starting Worldview Baptist Church at 500 College Drive, Cedartown.

He also provided annual financial support to the Haggai Institute which resulted in contributi­ons for the training of more than 50 persons from around the world to return to their respective communitie­s and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ was exemplifie­d in that he gave over 50 percent of his income for various Christian ministries.

Mr. Clements took pride and was active daily in one of his last projects, Community Share, which he supported financiall­y and met each morning at 7 a.m. for bible study and prayer with the men in the program.

He is popularly known as “the man who buys and sells on WGAA’s Swap Shop” and giving the profit to charity. In addition to his faithful service to Christ, perhaps Mr. Clements is best remembered for telling others: “The best news you are going to hear today is that Jesus loves you and so do I.”

In accordance with his wishes, his body was donated to Emory School of Medicine.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Cedartown.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of the memorial service. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorial contributi­ons be made in Mr. Clements's honor to the First Baptist Church of Cedartown, 101 North College St. Cedartown, Ga. 30125.

The family would like to give special thanks to Jeannie Mullen for the care and love shown during Mr. Clements's illness. She has been our rock! The family also would like to thank Heyman Hospice, the Cedar Hill Living Center nurses in building four, and especially Holly.

They will always hold special places in our hearts for the love and care given to our father. May God richly bless each of you for the compassion that was shown to our family.

Mrs. Ely

Mrs. Thelma Ely, age 73, of Aragon, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 in a Rome medical center.

She was born in Taylorsvil­le on July 29, 1943 a daughter of James Stanley Haney and Beulah White Haney.

Mrs. Ely was a homemaker and had been a resident of Polk County all of her life.

She was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Mrs. Ely loved her family, especially her grandchild­ren and enjoyed attending church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lamar Ely and by two brothers: James and Ernest Haney.

Survivors include a son, Stephen Ely, Rockmart; a daughter, Dora Williams and her husband Lee, Aragon; three grandchild­ren: Dalton Ely, Jasmine Gugat and her husband Steven and Shannon Williams; two sisters: Dorothy Hardin, Aragon and Becky Greer, Augusta; brother, Tommy Haney, Rockmart. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at 12 p.m. in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Edwards and Rev. Charles Garrett officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the Floyd Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Deacons of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church served as pallbearer­s and include: L.C. Cornwell, Charlie Cox, Billy Ward, Gene Cantrell and Glen Wimpey.

The family received friends Friday evening, Nov. 25, 2016 at the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangemen­ts for the funeral of Mrs. Thelma Ely.
