Mr. Herbert

Mr. Clay Joseph Hebert, age 71, of Rockmart, passed away Wednesday, Dec.14, 2016 at his residence.

He was born in Louisiana on Dec. 30, 1944 a son of the late Alcenia Joseph Hebert and Stella Burg Hebert.

Mr. Hebert had been a resident of the Rockmart area since 1982. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War.

While a resident of Louisiana, he worked as a boat captain in the oil industry and had worked most recently as a self employed carpenter.

He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his children and watching cartoons with his grandchild­ren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Daigle and a brother, Edward Hebert.

Survivors include his wife, Mona Hebert of Rockmart to whom he was married on Oct. 13, 1972; six children: Felix Hebert. Rockmart, Randy Hebert Sr., Houma, La., Paul Hebert, Wendy Burnett, Carrollton, Adam Hebert, Rockmart and William Hebert, Armuchee; brother, Ernest Hebert, Houma, Louisiana; two sisters: Florence Bijeaux, Houma, Louisiana and Margaret Hebert, Houma, La.; thirteen grandchild­ren; three great grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2106 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with Brother Kent Martin officiatin­g and eulogies given by family and friends.

The family received friends Saturday, Dec. 16, 2016 prior to the memorial hour at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that financial gifts be made to a memorial fund account being setup at SunTrust Bank to assist Mrs. Hebert with final expenses.

The Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home was in charge of memorial arrangemen­ts for Mr. Clay Joseph Hebert.

Mr. Edwards

Mr. Charlie Monroe Edwards Jr., age 65, of Rockmart passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2016.

He was born in Rome on Aug. 11, 1951, a son of the late Charlie Monroe Edwards, Sr. and Flora Dover Edwards.

Mr. Edwards had made Rockmart his home for the past 20 years moving here from Floyd County. He was a member of the Day Spring Assembly of God in Rome and spent his working career at Mohawk Industries.

He enjoyed attending church, watching TV and loved spending time with his grandchild­ren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Larry Edwards.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Marilyn Edwards of Rockmart; son, Charlie (Chuck) Monroe Edwards III, Alabama; daughter, Allison Edwards, Alabama; step son, Junior Bollen, Rockmart; two brothers: Danny Edwards, Rome and Kirk Edwards, Rome; and eight grandchild­ren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Larry Davis and Rev. Robert Anderson officiatin­g.

Interment followed in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearer­s were Junior Bollen, Justin Edwards, Michael Haney, Nathaniel Edwards, Tony Edwards, Dylan Roberts, Wayne Dunn and Daryle Waddell.

Grandchild­ren served as honorary pallbearer­s and included Torey Edwards, Aubry Edwards, Kelsey, Kenzie, Maddison, River, Bailey and Zander.

The family received friends Wednesday evening, Dec. 14, 2016 at the funeral home.

Mr. Chambers

Mr. Charles Franklin Chambers, age 83 of Rockmart passed away Monday evening, Dec. 12, 2016.

Mr. Chambers was born May 25, 1933 in Taylorsvil­le, son of the late William Gordon Chambers and the late Ethel Lumpkin Chambers.

He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Chambers was a member of the Taylorsvil­le Baptist Church and a 64 year member of the American Legion Brown-Wright Post #12.

He was a founding member of the Polk County Police Department and was Police Chief prior to his retirement in 1969. He later opened and operated Chambers Auto Service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Mitchell Chambers on Feb. 21, 2006; and two brothers, William George Chambers and Ralph Chambers.

Survivors include a son, Mark Chambers of Rockmart; two grandchild­ren, Alisa Mae Chambers and Joshua Allen Chambers; and two great-grandchild­ren, Jessie Mae Lentz and Logan Bryce Gilley.

Funeral services for Mr. Chambers were held on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Owen (Bud) Davis, Jr. officiatin­g. A eulogy was given by Mr. Doug Rayburn. Interment services followed in the family lot of the Taylorsvil­le Cemetery with American Legion Brown-Wright Post #12 Honor Guard in charge of the military graveside rites.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Cory Chambers, Lance Chambers, Chris Chambers, Kenneth Chambers, Michael Lawrence and Paul Lawrence.

Honorary pallbearer­s were Ricky Chambers and Jimmy Newman.

Mrs. Kellam

Mrs. Doris Parrish Kellam, age 76 of Buchanan, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016. She was born on February 19, 1940 in Cedartown.

She was the daughter of the late Henry Parrish and Eva Finley Parrish.

Mrs. Kellam is survived by her sons, Michael Britt and Mark Castle; sisters, Carolyn Peek, Mary Milam and Faye Bentley and granddaugh­ter, Brittany Castle Tippens.

Mrs. Kellam is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Kellam and brother, Roy Parrish.

In keeping with Mrs. Kellam’s wishes, she was cremated.

A memorial service for Mrs. Doris Parrish Kellam was conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Joel A. Smith officiatin­g. Interment followed in the Northview Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Kellam received family and friends on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 prior to the memorial service hour at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.

Mr. Terry

Mr. James Harlin Terry, Chief Warrant Officer 4 U.S. Army (Retired), age 77 of Cave Spring, died on Sunday afternoon Dec. 11, 2016 following a short illness.

Mr. Terry was born Oct. 5, 1939 in Floyd County, a son of the late John Stephen Terry and the late Eunice Pledger Terry.

A member of the Mountain Home Baptist Church, Mr. Terry was an ordained deacon, was a member of the Cave Spring Masonic Lodge, a member of the Low 12 Club, and was a member of a community that loved and respected him.

Mr. Terry retired from the U. S. Army after 39 years of dedicated military service.

Besides his parents, Mr. Terry was preceded in death by his step son, Barry Youngblood, by three brothers, Harold Terry, Allen Terry and Jimmy Terry, and by a sister Shirley Terry.

Survivors include his wife, the former Dean Dempsey Youngblood, to whom he was married Jan. 14, 2006; by a great niece and great nephew (“grand” children) Lexi and Blaine Terry; by wonderful nieces and nephews, caretakers and friends Brent and Angie Terry and Jimmy and Pam Cox; by a sister, Mrs. Elsie Haigwood and her family, Jennifer, Chad, Madison and Tanner Locklear; and by two brothers, Bobby (Nancy) Terry and grandson Ripley; Bill (Becky) Terry and daughters Susan Dykes and Kristy Terry.

Funeral services for Mr. Terry were held Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with his Pastor, Anthony Trawick and Rev. Mikel Garrett officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the family lot of the State Line Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s included Don Cline, Keith Vaughn, Bobby Wheeler, Gary Ashworth, Jimmy Smith, and Henry Newton. An honorary escort was composed of the men of Mountain Home Baptist Church.

The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends to follow Mr. Terry’s example by helping a needy family, feeding the hungry, or any other act of kindness done in honor of his life and memory.
