One Door Polk nearly full with Area Agency on Aging lease
One more local agency took over office space in One Door Polk to end the year, leaving not much leftover areas to rent in the former hospital.
Commissioners voted unanimously for to approve he lease agreement for a small single office space totaling $132 per month for 220 square feet of space
The Area Agency on Aging, which is a division of the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, will be using the new office space to help local seniors find services and support in times when they need help.
Specifically, the agency provides advocacy and coordination, an adult day care program, Alzheimers services and training, and the Community Care Support Program, among other areas where they provide help and overall services to seniors in Northwest Georgia.
The organization started taking over office space earlier i n t he month of December.
“This is the same standard commercial lease agreement that was drafted when we first negoti- ated a lease with the state for another agency,” Fann said.
With that in mind, Commissioner Dale Tuck asked how much room was left to use at One Door Polk and got good news: it’s almost full.
“We have about a total of six patient rooms left, but we had a request for all of them,” Fann said. “If we can afford the necessary renovations for those rooms and you all agree.”
The Area Agency on Aging joins CASA of Polk and Haralson County, Georgia Northwestern Technical College, Pri- mary Healthcare, Highland Rivers Healthcare and the Polk County Foster Parent Association and others who have office space within the former hospital.
Back in November, local officials also had a invite-only open house of the facility that has been slowly transformed from its former use as a medical center to a multi-purpose facility for health and community services.
The City of Cedartown took over the facility back in 2014 and has been slowly transforming the property as new tenants have come on.
