Cedartown boys pick up wins while girls struggle

- From staff reports

Some good news for the Cedartown boys basketball program from the past week as they picked up a pair of wins to kick off the week, while the Lady Bulldogs continue to struggle on the season as region play continues.

The boys picked up wins against Central Carroll and Chapel Hill at home, getting wins over the Lions and Panthers. However they weren’t able to get a handle on the Purple Hurricanes from Cartersville in a loss on the road before the weekend.

Cedartown won to start off the week on Jan. 16 over Central in a 62- 59 win, followed by another big win on Jan. 17 against Chapel Hill at home 44-43.

The Bulldogs got shook up in their 72-50 loss to Cartersville on Jan. 20, and followed that up on Saturday evening in a game against LaGrange at home, with the score not available at press time.

The Lady Bulldogs meanwhile went 1-2 on the week heading into the weekend following press time, winning over the Central Lady Lions but falling to Chapel Hill and Cartersville by week’s end.

Cedartown’s girls took a 52-38 win at home over Central on Jan. 16, but then dropped a 57- 34 game against Chapel Hill and a 57- 35 loss to Cartersville to move back in the region.

Both teams are on the road in Carrollton after press time on Tuesday, Jan. 24 against Central, and again on Friday against Troup County.
