Rockmart church welcoming new pastor

- From staff reports

The First Baptist Church of Rockmart is welcoming a new pastor to lead the flock during the first weekend of March.

Church members will be greeting their new pastor, Rev. Jason Odom, as he takes over the congregation on Sunday, March 5.

Odom is moving to Rock mart from Birmingham, Ala., where he has lived with his family in the suburb of Pleasant Grove while he attended school.

He is a graduate of Auburn University where he majored in journalism, graduating as summa cum laude. He then attended Universi- ty of Alabama receiving his Master’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising. In 2012, Odom graduated from the Beeson Divinity School of Samford University and in 2014, he received a Master of Theological Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Odom recently worked as a research associate to the Dean of the Beeson Divinity School at Samford University until he was brought in as the new pastor for First Baptist Church of Rockmart.

He has also served as a supply preacher in the Birmingham area.

Odom is married to the former Michaela Bundon, of Knoxville, Tenn., and they have two children, James and Lucy.

In a press release earlier this week, the church stated: “We look forward to this new chapter at First Baptist Church and we invite everyone to come and meet the Odom family.”

Church services will begin at 11 a.m. following Sunday school in the sanctuary.
